filler rod selection

Default filler rod selection

Which filler rod should i be using to weld a stainless v band flange to an exhaust housing? Aslo when welding 304 to a mild steel flange?

308L on both. You may get some rust on your dissimalar weld though. but it is what it is

I think ive been using 309 on the runners themselves is that the correct rod?

For 304-304 stainless welds use 308L rod, for mild-304 use 309L. For the exhaust housing-vband weld I would use 309L.

Woh dood. 304 to mild calls for 309, not 308.
