Default attention experienced welders

sup guys i have a header that is begining to get hairline cracks around the welds on runners to the flange on the head and i was wondering if it would be ok to get my friend to re-weld it or would that just make it weaker or warp? any suggestions/comments? thanks

Well, sure you can re-weld it just to stop the progression. To be certain drill holes at the ends of the crack to be sure they terminate, then re-weld. If you weld them though, it is likely the flange will warp....how bad depends on the thickness of the flange.

See if you can get a piece of thick scrap steel and tap some holes to bolt down the outer edges of the header flange....that or bolt it to a head while it's welded.
