Default Pics/story of 00-106/restoration project

I recently re-purchased #00-106 from RStoR, thought I'd share a few pics and the history of the car. I bought the car brand new back in Nov. 99, I was working at the local Acura dealership at the time. I had the car for a couple months, then decided to install a JRSC. Owned the car for about a year, than ended up selling it for various reasons. Here's a pic of it from the first time I owned it.

Sold the car to a 18 year old kid. He kept the car through college, owned it around 6 years total. I pretty much lost touch with the car and it's owner during this time, had more or less forgotten about it. About a year and a half ago, it turned up for sale. RStoR (Chris B) picked it up. Here's how it looked when he got it.

The JRSC had been removed and the car was converted back to N/A. The stock seats were gone, replaced by Sparcos. The car needed a fair amount of work at this point. RStoR fixed quite a few things during the next year. A month or so ago, he decided to put the R up for sale, and I picked her back up. This is how the car looked at the time of sale.

I decided I wanted to put the car back as stock as possible, then do some mods from there. At this point, I've gotten the car most of the way there. Still needs some attention but it's coming along. I ditched the Sparcos for stock USDM seats, picked up a set of stock wheels, and put stock suspension back on the car. Installed an OEM clutch, removed the camber kit, performed an alignment, replaced the rear motor mount, fixed the antenna mast, reinstalled the center console, removed the clock delete plate and installed a clock, bought a new valve cover and a new set of '01 mats, plus a ton of other odds and ends. Here's how she looks so far.

Nice fresh valve cover

Still lots left to do (paint/body work, motor rebuild etc). Figured I'd go ahead and start this thread now and update it from time to time. Before it's all said and done I'll probably do a complete restoration on the car with a few choice mods thrown in. My other car is a 91 Legend 6 spd coupe that I spent 4 years on, now that it's done it's time for a new project.

yes they are.... I miss those Enkei's...j/k

Jon the wheels look great.... I will probably end up w/ the tires... Kenso, wants a set of the stock B-Stone's reo10's....He is all about O.E.

I drove the car today, it drives great...... Hard to believe how much better the car drives w/ stock suspension compared to the Teins that were on it......

This car will eventually be flawless..... Kenso is one **** ****....

for the restoration......

I know all too well about returning a car into stock trim. Everything is looking extremely good and I wish you the best.

Looks great! Are you going to keep the Honda emblems or ditch them for some Acura emblems?

What part of NC are you in? I remember back in '99 when I was still in NC, I used to see a black R every now and then in Cary/Raleigh area (Kildaire Farm Rd., IIRC)

It must feel pretty cool getting your old car back. Good luck on rest of the resto.
