I was just wondering if someone could tell me the correct way to reset the ECU in a 1998 Honda Civic LX 4-Door. I did search and it seems there are many opinions. The battery was disconnected for a little while today and after being hooked back up it kept stalling when coming to a stop. I have heard remove the Hazard fuse, disconnect the battery terminals and touch them together, Let the car idle for 10 minutes, hold the RPM's at 3k for 1 min and then drive for 5 miles ect ect. Honda guru's please help, What is the complete ECU resetting procedure?

Just remove the negative battery cable, some people believe you should let the car idle for 10-15 minutes after reseting the battery to adjust for idle, I don't think that does ****

 

im not 100% sure on our cars but remove the cables for like 15min, then reattach and let the car idle, if its like other cars once the ECU has been unplugged for awhile its almost like it needs to to re learn a few things then evens out, ive seen this with a few vehicles ive worked on, its worth a shot! cant go wrong with it
