need a good budget amp to push my punch p3
i got 2 12" dvc 4ohm punch p3 and i need a good budget amp to push these hard. i don't want to spend anymore than $350 i've seen the hifonics, ma audio and they told me i can run 2 kenwood amps one for each sub let me know what you guys think
You have two 500W subs so you need a 1x1000W RMS into 4 ohms, [or 1 ohm] mono block sub amp, stick with one that is 1000W into 4 ohms, [better SQ], finding a good 1000W amp for no more then $350 may be a problem.
You can probably get a used JL Audio 1000/1 in that price range... http://search.ebay.com/search/...earch

You did say "good amp", right??
The Brutus BXI1206 is 1x450W RMS into 4 ohms, you have to load it down to 1 ohm to get 1000W out of it, IMO SQ is poor at 4 ohms and terrible at 1 ohm, it is a gutless wonder... http://ampguts.realmofexcursio...1206D/
The MA Audio HK1998 is 1x600W RMS into 4 ohms, 1x1200W RMS into 2 ohms, not stable below 2 ohms... http://ampguts.realmofexcursion.com/MA_HK1998/ IMO a much better amp then the Hifonics, but will not work for you.
The Kenwood, best amp of the three IMO, but it is only 1x300W RMS into 4 ohms and 1x500W RMS into 2 ohms, also not stable below 2 ohms, you would need two of them, I do not recommend two amps unless they are "strapped" together or maybe if the subs do not share the same airspace.
You have only three options for wiring your subs, 16 ohms, [series/series] 4 ohms, [series/parallel or parallel/series] and 1 ohm, [parallel/parallel].
As I mentioned, for best SQ wire the VCs/subs in series/parallel, [VCs in series and subs in parallel] for a 4 ohm final load, and find an amp that will produce at least 1x1000W RMS into 4 ohms.

ok number 1 the profile amp does make 960 but the key word was bridged so read again and in every wensite that they have the hk1998 it is 1200 x1 at 1ohm even in their main ma audio website
$350 budget is really high for a 1000w amp. For that price you can get a used Arc Audio 2500XXK but since it's a class A/B it would kill your electrical system. I have a Diamond Audio D6 1500.1 for sale that is conservatively rated at 1500w but you may blow your subs if you dont know how to install/setup correctly.
Another great amp if you could stretch your budget by $70 is the Alpine PDX-1.1000. Very small footprint, is stackable, and is rated at 1000w at both 2 ohm and 4 ohm loads. I would get higher end drivers before I got any of these amps though.
Crossfire VR1000D, Kicker 1000.1, Orion 1200D, Older JBL BP1200.1, and more. Profile are good budget amps and the ratings are a little overrated but good none the less. Planet Audio is also decent. Instead of the caps, upgrade your electrical by doing the Big 3 first using at least 4 gauge wire throughout.

Could get a Punch 150 25 to life amp.
http://www.millionbuy.com/rocpunch150.html

Just run it 2 ohm stereo, or 4 ohm mono. Should be good for around 900 watts according to some of the birth sheets I have seen posted.
But I am just a sucker for nostalgia, and love the classic looks. My 2 Punch 45 25 to life amps put out around 300 watts according to the sheets. Much better than the Aura 2150's they replaced....and I was happy with the Aura's, so that was a happy suprise.
