Default Suspension for '91 CRX with H2b?

Ok, so currently have 2" drop springs by TenzoR on my CRX. Getting an H2B swapped in hopefully in about one week. My b16 sits incredibly low to the ground as it is...and the h22 is going to be about 30lbs heavier, so it will drop even more. I want to pull it up a bit as to protect my header from getting dented/scratched. I am planning on custom fabricating a skid plate for added protection as well, but still need some advice on the suspension work.

I have heard that a killer combination is Koni Yellow shocks combined with Ground Control coilovers. My problem is if I get the CRX spring rates, won't that make it really bouncy and ricey? If so, should I get like integra rate springs?

Any other suggestions as far as suspension goes? Merely speaking of shocks/springs

i'd actually go with something where you can pick and choose spring rates, i know i didn't like any ots spring rates for my b-swap, i can't imagine the added bulk of an h2b would be any different.

Sell the H22, and buy real suspension and a B20 block.

Contact ground control directly and tell them your setup/goals. Assuming you aren't going to be slammed with an h2b, you won't need extended tophats. Assuming you are slammed, go with the extended tophats and watch the sparks fly .

I guess I'll add some real info here.

I've ran 2 different setups:

AGX KYB with H&R Race springs. Loved it. It was tight on the B swap and it handled great.

Currently, Ground Control struts with H&R Race springs. Even better, and handles like a dream on the D.

You don't need to worry about the 'heavy' H22 adding all that weight in the front. It's honestly a 30-40lbs difference, imagine you took the rebar and a few other things from under the hood, it would even up to the same weight at a B swap. So just buy something decent and inexpensive. No need for 1000$ setup unless you really want it/can afford it.

I would just go with a Nice B20 setup...that way you don't have to hack up your CRX to get the H22 to fit...you can get just as much power, and TQ from a stock B20 setup.

Can't smog a light truck/suv motor in a passenger car...And I'm not really game on paying $250-$400 to smog everytime. I'd rather pay the $30 and save the extra couple of hundred for parts/work I may need.

I was referring to the spring rates. I have heard that the heavier h swap will make your ride bouncy if you get crx spring rates, no matter what brand. That same person also said to get stronger integra rates, so as to minimize the bounciness. TenzoR is indeed rice to me, but they came with the car, and they ride suprisingly smoothly, but car sits low now, and will even be lower with the h in there. My header scrapes on small bumpers now, but I have a semi-skid play installed now, but it won't hold up for much longer. I can only imagine the clearance with the h swap....

Yea gc with konis came out to like $700...which is a little insane. The car isn't gonna be track car or a race car, it's gonna be a daily driver. I just want something to ride smoothly, and give me a nice clean drop that isn't gonna scrape on anything. Don't the H&R race springs drop like 3"+?

H+R race springs were insanely too low and had about 40% of the spring rate they should have for providing that much of a drop. J-u-n-k IMO. I rock 350F 250R Progress coilovers (which i have a sneaking suspicion are Carerra/QA-1 shock bodies with a male threaded bottom for the cup and a coilover kit slapped on) and i love them. Fantastic dampening, firm but not overly sprung in the least. A set of 550F + 700R Eibach 7x 2.5 inch springs should be nice for an auto-x set up, hopefully cause i already bought em.

If you want a nice ride for cheap get a gr-2 with a spring that drops under an inch and a half. otherwise its $600 and up to play.

You can get custom rates with the Koni/GC setup. Eibach quality, koni damping. A++

I used h&r springs with konkoi struts and it road like stock but with the lowered look. NO bounce but low to the ground.

a quality piece is a quality piece, wether it be koni or others. cheap suspension = cheap handling. i'm not saying you have to spend a fortune, but there are a reason their called budget brands.

well i have over a grand in suspension but i autocross the gc/koni combo is what i have on with custom rates. but since you want this for appearence then get some tein s tech and kybs. but if you get the gc/koni's remeber then are adustable so if you ever change your mind about what you want the car to do (drag or auto cross) its just a turn of a ****. my .02

I ran Progress Series 1 coilovers with full H22 swap in a CRX and the car handled great. It was written up in a Sport Compact Car article a few years ago. We had some fairly old hoosiers in the car and it still cornered over 1 G on the skid pad.

I never said I want just for appearance. I want the ride quality to be near stock and not too low due to the h22 sitting a little lower than the b16 (which sits really low now on 2" springs...
