i changed the exhaust manifold gasket recently and i took pics of the thing. i realized when i uploaded the pic that there is something weird in the picture. are those the valves/ valve stems i see inside the ports? they appear lwelded together or something...what the heck are those???

 

Its the valve stem and the valve guides.
