in japan they have recaro seats for both the driver and passenger while in the u.s. they have cloth with red stitching , are the rear seats the same for the jdm and us type r, both being cloth with red stitching? Also is there any difference between the door panels of a integra jdm type r and a usdm gsr and usdm type r?

 

The JDM rear seats don't have the plastic tray in the middle. It's foam and alcantara thar in the middle.

The JDM and USDM ITR door panels are the same materials-wise, except that the Rx had faux carbon fiber window switch surrounds. USDM GS-R panels have cloth or leather inserts (depending on the seats). The ITRs have material similar to their seat fabric.

100% correct. Also, with the JDM ITR door panels, you can get them with or without tweeters. AFAIK the USDM panels all came with tweeters.

 

for clarification, is it only the Rx that has the carbon fiber window switches? I picked up a set for cheap, and with all the other stuff that is rare and Rx only, I'd think the switches would have fetched a pretty penny.

So I thought all JDM R's had the carbon window switches?

D'oh, yeah I think you're correct.

 

I hadn't even noticed you said that. All of them have the CF switches, the difference with the Rx is it has power folding mirrors.

power folding mirrors is also an option on the other R's as well. I imported (or rather, helped import?) a 2000 R in CW (so not an Rx) and it had power folding mirrors. I know, because the seats and mirrors made it into my USDM R.


I think the Rx really only has the yellow seats, yellow stitch interior, pedals, and better stereo. It also has all the options as standards (i.e. A/C, power mirrors, etc.) The guy I bought my R from was trying to turn it into a USDM Rx, and he had a bunch of factory paperwork and brochures for the Rx. I'm pretty sure that is all it had different.


... and with this brochure I found.... I guess they came in other colors? I thought only PY for some reason? Perhaps the one we got, was an Rx?

 

for some reason, I think that maybe the Rx isn't as rare as we all think. Maybe the yellow interior ones are, but I've seen a TON with power folding mirrors. And since they come in all the colors offered, maybe they aren't that rare at all.

I'd love to get a hold of those pedals though... yummy! And a set of the yellow interior. But I'll be damned if I'm gonna pay the price that people want for it though. I'll just stick with my Red Recaros.

 

I believe the Rx's also had the no slip pedals and better speakers with a higher watt radio.

 

also, apparently, the carbon fiber bits are "psuedo" polished? Anyway, different than the regular R's carbon stuff.
