Default running stock springs, is it a benefit to run a shock with more compression?

Another shock question. I'm still fighting between koni and illumina. A friend of mine is runnign the illuminas on his RX7 and is currently in the lead of the local solosprint solo series. I like the koni for the reliablity factor and the customer service...I have yet to even be able to contact tokico without running into and answering machine with no return calls. the one thing the illumina adds is slight influence on compression. Is this a benefit considering i"m running stock ITR springs? I can spring for konis if need be, and if they have more compression all across the board, then theyre still the safer bet I'm guessing. Any thoughts? Thanks.
