Wow..................

"BB*" is not a type/model of H-Series Motor. It is the Model/Chassis of the Car.

There are 4thGen BA8, BB1, BB2, and BB4's in the USDM. I was under the impression that BB1's were VTEC Models, but that could just be only the ones I've seen. I'm not exactly sure which ones were/were not in the JDM.

The 5thGen is only sold as a BB6 in the USDM, but in the JDM they have the BB5 & BB6 for certain. Maybe a BB7? I'm not sure though..

The 3rdGen's were BA* something I believe also.

If you notice, most all Honda's have 3 Digit/Letter Codes in the Vins.

wow do I feel like a misguided fool. I was under the impression that the H22a4 was the BB6 model.
Minus 2 points on me now.

If that be the case what about the 2000 and 2001 ludes?<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by MLBZ521 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Wow..................

2000/2001 have h22a4's as well only with 60mm crank journals i believe?

the BB's are just chassis codes..

I do believe that BB1 is the 92's.. 93-96 is bb4 but i truely dont see the difference. bb6 is the USDM 5th gen

Well, the BB6 Model does come with the H22A4.
And all USDM 5thGen's are BB6's, no matter what slight engine change.
The JDM BB5, for example, was an Si Model, that was Non-VTEC comparable to the USDM 4thGen Si H23A1 engine. I'm not sure what the BB5 engine code was, I'll see if I can find it...

For the 4thGens...
The VTEC Models I've seen were BB1's.
My Si Model is BB2.
And I thought the S Model's were BA8's, that or something like '92 Prelude S Model's were BA8's.
Now, I'm not certain what the BB4 was exactly, or if it came with a range of engines, which all could have done..

I put my comments in bold next to what I believe is incorrect..

<u>Fourth Gen:</u>
USDM
1.) BA8 (92-96 Prelude S - 2.2L SOHC: F22A1)
2.) BB1 (93-96 Prelude VTEC - 2.2L DOHC VTEC: H22A1)
3.) BB2 (92-96 Prelude Si - 2.3L DOHC: H23A1)
4.) BB2 (92-96 Prelude Si 4WS - 2.3L DOHC: H23A1 w/ 4 Wheel Steering)
5.) BB2 (1995 Prelude SE - 2.3L DOHC: H23A2) I believe this should be a H23A1 not A2, but I also thought the SE was actually a Canadian-DM Model.

JDM
1.) BA8 (91-95 Prelude Si - 2.2L DOHC: F22B)
2.) BA9 (91-95 Prelude Si 4WS - 2.2L DOHC: F22B w/ 4 Wheel Steering)
3.) BB1 (91-95 Prelude Si VTEC 4WS - 2.2L DOHC VTEC: H22A1 w/ 4 Wheel Steering) This should be a H22A, not A1.
4.) BB4 (91-95 Prelude Si VTEC - 2.2L DOHC VTEC: H22A1) This should be a H22A, not A1.

<u>Fifth Gen:</u>
USDM
1.) BB6 (97-01 Prelude S - 2.2L DOHC VTEC: H22A4)
2.) BB6 (97-01 Prelude SH - 2.2L DOHC VTEC: H22A7 w/ ATTS) This should be a H22A4, not A7.

JDM
1.) BB5 (96-01 Prelude Xi - 2.2L SOHC: F22B2)
2.) BB5 (96-01 Prelude Si - 2.2L DOHC: F22B)
3.) BB6 (96-01 Prelude SIR - 2.2L DOHC VTEC: H22A4?)
4.) BB6 (96-01 Prelude Type S - 2.2L DOHC VTEC: H22A4?)
5.) BB7 (96-01 Prelude Si 4WS - 2.2L DOHC: F22B w/ 4 Wheel Steering)
6.) BB8 (96-01 Prelude SIR 4WS - 2.2L DOHC VTEC: H22A4? w/ 4 Wheel Steering)

I can not comment on the JDM 5thGen.. I do not think they had H22A4's period, and I have/had no idea about them actually having 4WS Systems..

Oh and another random fact, if you didn't know already.. In Japan, the 4thGen was sold from '91 - '95 and the 5thGen was '96 - Not sure when, heh.

So if you see places that say 4thGen '91 - '95 and/or 5thGen '96 - '00 or '01 or '02, they might not being talking about the USDM. (Yes, I'm pretty certain I've seen '02 somewhere before..) But that could be a mistake.
