engine assembly 1 ?
I have a question about the engine my machinest degreed the cams in by turning the motor counter clockwise he said usally on other motors like bb's and sb's they dont do that and when he rotates the motor counter the timing belt is fine but when he trys to go clockwise the timing belt gets a little loose. anything wronge here. and another thing he said the gears didnt line up exaclty straight they are off by a hair sorry by the sloppyness
Some motors, like older Honda motors, are designed to rotate CCW at the front of the motor.
It's okay that the gears didn't line up because if he degreed the camshafts in to the truest sense of the term, then the alignment markings on the cam gears are irrelevant.

sounds pretty normal to me. this is why you rotate CCW to tension the timing belt. otherwise you will have a ton of slack on the firewall-side of the belt and it wont be correct. rotating CCW tightens the slack on the firewall-side of the belt, and allows the tensioner to take care of the slack on the header-side of the belt.
id be a little worried about the cams not lining up unless the head/block was machined significantly but im paranoid like that. as long as you can rotate the motor several times and the cams/timing belt staying consistent, you should be fine.
