Default Not running good after Cold air and exhaust upgrade.

I just installed an Injen Cold Air Intake and A Greddy SP2 exhaust on my ’01 Prelude. The Car ran great for the first couple of days after the install but now the idle is bouncing and the gas is extremely touchy after the car warms up (while driving). The engine light is on and I’ve cleared the code a couple of times by disconnecting the battery for 20 min and then reconnecting. After doing this the car runs great again for about ½ hour and then the engine light comes on again and the idle starts bouncing. I have no idea what is going on here but I need help. Any suggestions?

Might want to find out what code you are throwing.

Well the code's there for a reason, check the code! If ur car's obd1 then check it urself, if it's obd2 go to an auto store to get it checked for free.

Vacuum leak might be your problem.

obd1 or obd2 he can still check it himself.... I dont think a vacuum leak is going to throw a CEL, although it does sound like one.

Plus one. I just did my new Air intake and I capped of the Vaccum line next to the EGR valve and it started reving itself in nuetral. I uncapped it and filled the coolant(read the other posts on the board and you will understand) and it stopped revng.<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by AndyD &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Vacuum leak might be your problem. </TD></TR></TABLE>

to me, the fact that hes throwing a code and idle surge on warmup makes me want to say his IACV is to blame.

IACV is the code that it's throwing. Any ideas on how to trouble shoot?

Did you pull the battery cable before the install?

I don't know how close the 5th gens are with the 4th gens.

But I don't believe just unplugging your battery is going to reset the ecu.

I'm willing to bet that it's your iacv like they said above. When I installed my a.i, it did the same thing. I believe that the reason, is because I didn't pull the battery cable, and the "Clock" fuse, before making any mechanical adjustments.

Unplug the iacv with the engine off, Do the ecm reset procedure by the book, plug it back in, and crank the car up.

I don't know about your ride but I'm pretty sure they all work with the same "drive by wire" principal.

HTH....

Mine did the same same thing but i had no CEL and it was the iacv. I did a simple dianoses on mine though. Left the car running after it started running like crap and unplugged the iacv. Guess what? the problem didnt get any worse, as a matter of fact nothing changed so i knew that was my problem. no this doesnt always work but its worth a shot.

Do like "97lx" said and pull the iacv off. 2 bolts I think 12mm, could be 10mm.

You should see the screen, clean it with carb. or brake cleaner. than reinstall it. before you crank the car pull the ecm fuse, wait at least one minute, put it back in and turn the engine over....

I really think that your problem is NOT the iacv itself, it's the computer (ecm) that's getting confused with your adjustments.

Trying to troubleshoot a problem with vehicles now days with electronics/mechanics together, is like trying to watch a game on T.V. while the ol' ladies bitching in the background.....You have to pay attention to her, or you don't get any....and you have to pay attention to the play, or you'll miss the score.

I know, stupid example...But either way you need to pay attention to them both. Or you'll never finish watching the game. Ta,he,he

you didn't help much either

i agree, i don't the iacv is the culprit. it's probably being affected by something else. my guess is your lines as well. might want to double check that. good luck.
