How many versions of the safeguard are out now? I just have the 1/2 channel import version with my stock ignition.

A dyno and checking the plugs.
I wear ear plugs otherwise I'll go deaf at the rate that I tune cars.
And the only time I've ever heard knock on a car I was tuning was when there was a semi-clogged fuel injector. Tuning a car where everything is mechanically fine you shouldn't get any where near the point of hearing knock.
