are you against using the stock airbox?i have the stock airbox,a K&N drop-in,a 3" mandrel bend to take the place of the stock plastic elbow,and a hose feeding air to the inlet on the airbox.keeps hot engine bay air out,uses a big filter,no restrictions.....works well.

the part you want to make just seems overly complicated for what your goal is.

easiest way to make a plug for a mold is to use foam. after rough shape is made, cover w/ bondo and make the final shape. the mold will have to be 2 piece and you will either have to make 2 halves separately and glass them together, or find some way of making an inflatable bladder to make a one piece part. go to racingcomposites.net they have lots of info on diy composites stuff.
