Default si tranny issues?

Ok so my 07 si has just been giving me issues.. First it was the TERRIBLE feed back in the radio.. then the headliner just wouldn't stay attached.. Well new problems.. I promise this is just my luck! Soo here's the problems now.. the little one first.. some guy pulled in front of me and I held in the horn.. it cuts out.. no one believe me until my fiance was driving the car and he used the horn and it cut out again.. Well I was driving about a month ago and it popped out of 3rd when I shifted the car.. I was like well maybe I didn't get it in all the way.. my dad drove the car and it did it to him.. my fiance drove it and it did it to him.. soo I decided to take it in for both those issues.. well I get a phone call about 2:30ish saying it's my tranny.. GREAT! the car only has 8000 miles on it and I dont drive it hard @ all.. I think I hit v-tech maybe 5 times and I've had it for 8 months. They said it's because I drive with my hand on the shifter.. well sorry to break there little hearts but I don't drive like that cause I know it causes problems.. I don't even do that when I drive an automatic.. Since I'm not 18 they can't give us one of there cars.. and they are being cheap asses and won't give me a rental.. so now I have to go and fight with them tomorrow about paying another car rental place so I can get a car... Did I mention they will have my car for a week?????? I have school that is about 45 mins away and I also work.. Is anyone else having issues??? Or is it only me??

I get the 2cd and 3rd gear notchyness still and i am at 26k miles with an 06 SI i still havent change the tranny fluid out to Amsoil which from what i heard helps the tranny issue.

But overall i just learned to deal with it 75% of the time the tranny is smooth the other 25% pisses me off Good Luck

and the reason it's not a recall is because most people who do buy the si's race and drive them hard and they blamed that for the issues atleast @ that dealership.. well not the case here and they know I'm not hard on that car and I baby it. Soo maybe something will come up but I'm sure Honda will try their best to prove it's kids beating them and not their fault.

That is usually how you wind up with bent shift forks--having someone drive with the weight of their arm resting on the shifter. Are you sure maybe your Dad or Fiance haven't driven like that?

No, Honda never did a recall on RSX about this.

All K series motors seem to be having this problem now and then. This especially happens when the car is cold. Shifting through the gears while warming the car up helps since the fluid is moving faster. Also changing the transmission fluid helps when this problem is detected early.

I changed fluid on my Type S at Honda and it has helped, will do the same thing on the Si at 5K service.

umm my dad drove the car probably 3 times since I bought it.. and I've been with him.. he doesn't.. my fiance knows better.. he works on cars.. and if it was the case of someone doing that then it would still be under warranty b/c no where in the warrenty does it say you can't drive with your hand on the shifter..

poop on honda for false advertisement then... The SI is supposed to be the sporty model. hence the sporty exhaust, bigger engine, 6 speed transmission 17 inch rims. IMO they should fix this problem regardless how people drive. im not abusive on my SI and I find 3rd being a real problem.

Now the techs saying it might be a syncro. This car has been a POS from day one. This out third honda that we own and i'm telling her to get rid of it. Honda really starting to lack on quality.

I have never had mine pop out of gear, but I have missed 3rd a couple times and got that "GRINDING" noise.

However, I will admit that when I get on the pedal and wind-up the supercharger, the shifter does fell like it flies out of 3rd gear, into 4th. That is why I do keep my hand on the shifter when I am being stupid.

so we took it in yesturday.. they didn't give me a rental because I'm not 21 so I'm driving my dad's over sized F-350.. (which I can't drive to school cause I'll get a ticket for double parking) and did I mention the mechanic called off today so my car is still sitting there. I need the car back by friday because my little brother needs the truck for his quad races over the weekend.. I think I'm going to take it to another honda dealership cause they just keep screwing me over!!!

I don't know why people are acting like this is the first Honda with transmission issues. Can you even find a b-series tranny with out a 2nd gear grind at high rpm? I'm not gonna even bring up preludes. Honda's transmissions are not buillt like tanks by any means. The new tranny's in the si are really nice smooth shifting transmissions for the most part, but they are still Honda transmissions.

my $.02

The dealership isn't screwing you.. you are young and not old enough to rent a car. That is not the dealers fault.
Why the hell are you driving an Si in the first place if you only "hit v-tech maybe 5 times" in 8 months?

k so first off I wasn't saying the dealership was screwing me out of a car.. I was saying that they kept screwing me by telling me one thing and doing another.. they knew that guy wasn't going to be there today to fix my car but they said it was going to get worked on today.. and when I had issues before with my radio I would bring it in and it would sit all day cause they didn't know what to do with it. They don't treat me like a customer cause my fiance works there. and I don't hit v-tech in it cause the car is quick without getting in v tech.. plus there really isn't a place to get on it.. I live out on windy roads...

my fiance works @ the dealership soo I got a really good deal on the car.. and my dad wanted me to move back home from buffalo so he told me I could trade in my car and he would pay for the rest of the new one.. Did I mention I also work @ least 30 hrs a week even though I'm still in school???

I have a GSR for over 4 years. Never had a tranny problem or a grind that wasn't my fault. In my opinion, the integra trannies are not that bad. I actually like the notchyness of my tranny. I hate slush boxes. I like them tight.

For me at least, I just had to adjust my driving habits so that I always put the clutch all the way to the floor. Problem solved. That and not driving like a punk.
