Default Need a little lip... Fiberglass?

Hi,

I want to build a new front lip for my R that incorporates a horizontal splitter. I haven't seen anything quite like I want to do, so I'm gonna do it myself.

It would be much easier if I could find a stock type (or similar) front lip made of fiberglass or other composite that I could use as a starting point.

Does anyone know where I could find one?

Thanks,
John

Fiberglass front lip, is asking for trouble.

Buy a second stock one to tear up, so you have your original stock one unmolested.

I'll take a wild guess at... *points index finger to temple, pulsates eye lids*... '98-'01, actually, to be exact, 2001.

^ Good idea, but fiberglass is a lot easier to cut, shave, and mold as needed, pretty sure it's be for a track car as well.

Ok, go out into the garage and try and cut up your stock lip, it's not easy... and I know there some rough tracks and what not, but nothing that should destroy hos splitter/lip/front end. I'm sure he can even have a little dampening system for it if and when it makes contact with the pavement, you know... to take some of the force out.

Hi All,

I was thinking Bungee cords for the dampening system<LOL> A dampening system is a great idea though.

Actually, yes, it is a 2001.

Actually I was hoping to find a fiberglass lip that I could build onto with an extension to lower it and then add a horizontal splitter. If I could buy a fiberglass "replica" that would give me a good starting point.

Of course, then I could put the original lip away along with all the other parts....

Thanks,
John

Shame... If it was a 97, I might have been able to help him out.

Default Bumpy tracks

"^ Duh Cory, race tracks have speed bumps too!"

Yup, I ran Enduro Karts at Summit Point, Watkins Glen and Pocono. I know.....

I once woke up for a race weekend at Summit with a major neck ache. An hour on the track was like a visit to the chiropractor. Never felt better.
