Default 99 civic side rocker panel garnish/ mudguards

my 99 civic coupe si (black) used to have a body kit on it. as of now it has stock parts back on it but it has no side rocker panel moldings (oem side skirts). the body kit also went up higher then the oem molding on the front and back quarter panels so i need to sand and paint where it left marks.

here is my dilema. since i need to paint that area, to save money, can i just buy the garnish assy for both sides that would normally go on an ex? isn't the only difference between the two is that th ex is just a flat black primer color and the si ones are already painted? if i'm painting them anyways y not just get the non painted ex ones.

also will the ex ones fit the si and/or will they look different (style wise) than the si ones?

one last thing. does anyone have the mudguards on there civic? do they look stupid? is it worth it if you live in IOWA for example where you have harsh winters with sand and snow getting spit up? and my car is lowered bout 1.5" or a little bit more are those gonna rub on the ground?

thanks

Yes, you can use those rocker moldings. No, your mudflaps won't rub. Will they look stupid? come on man
