Default Cabin Filter:Honda vs others.

Hey there guys! I'm going to replace my cabin filter for my 01 Accord. I'm buying it off ebay because it's cheaper. Anyways, what do you guys think of 3rd party cabin filter makers? The same? or should I stick with Honda ones? Thanks!

What is the ebay price?

You can buy Honda filters for $9.50 each (you need two) at http://www.handa-accessories.com . Plus shipping of course, but if you are buying other things (like an engine air filter, oil filters, etc) the shipping is less per item.

My philosophy on things like air filters, oil filters, manual transmission fluid, etc is to use what the dealer sells and know that I am getting good stuff. Besides, you are only supposed to change the cabin filter every 30,000 miles, it's not like you are buying new ones every month or two.

Yea... Hmmmm I haven't changed mine yet ever since I bought the car. Well hmmmm..... Let me ask you guys this.... Since the 6th gen Accords have 2 filters, is one for fresh and the other re circulating air? I don't use my fresh air when I turn on my A/C. Should be clean. I just use inside.

UPDATE!!!

Well I bought filter for the RSX and 01 Accord. I took removed the 01 Accord's and seems pretty clean. Just little dust. But the RSX's filter was GUNKY!!! All black and tiny little leaves. Just bad. (Due to using fresh air mode)

If you use fresh air mode many times, I suggest replace your cabin filter. (If you have one)

Exactly my question. Does Accord 95 EX 4dr have cabin filter (though I think so) and if YES, how can I replace it myself?

No. Only starting 6th gen Accord and up have cabin filters. 5th gen(94-97) and below doesn't.

Alright, Thank You.
However, one more question. My Air Condition smells kinda... dusty, I would say. I noticed the same smell when only the fan is on (without A/C) no matter if inner circulation or outside air.
Could that be connected to an old/bad air filter in the engine?

Dusty.... One way is to blow compress air into the blower blades with compress air and hope that the dust gets loose and gets blown out. the intake vent is behind the glove box... Though this may NOT fix it. The best way to fix those is to remove the whole system and clean it of dust and leaves.

Well you are suppose to replace it if you live in a dusty area. And use the fresh air function all the time or most of the time. Another one might be bad smelling of the vents. In any case, taking it out and inspect it is the best way.

So the air intake behind the glove compartment... I think I saw that today... Is that the rectangular shaped sort of sponge, beige in color? If yes should I just blow air in there?

I'm not sure what you mean by blower blades. Where and what is that?

Well I never tried it, but in theory, it should work. Or at least help. Yea its that rectangular. Mine has big square grill. Put it in circulating. Fan speed at 4. spray the air into there. I doubt it'll work, but this is the only easy way.

The blades are like fan blades. Usually dust collects on the blades. The blower and it's blades are directly inside that retangular shaped intake. If you turn on the fan you can see it spiining.
