Default Honda and Acura Fluids, oil filters, same?

Hi all,

So I have an odyssey and it uses the same oil filter my lude did, and I understand that most hondas use this same filter, was curious if the a 07 /08 TL can use that filter as well? What about fluids, ATF, antifreeze, brake fluid, power steering fluid, honda bond (is there an acura bond? lol).

Just curios, looking at the TL vs the Accord, this is not a major deal decider for me, just something to put in the pro column.

If you go to like autozone.com there are reverse lookups. For most intents and purposes, the NSX used 'X' filter and pretty much every filter since the 90s on other Hondas used 'Y' filter and never changed. The newer ones (starting around 2001) use a smaller outer diameter which can be used on older Hondas. This means that if you buy a filter for say a 2008 civic, yeah it should fit every honda since around 91 and newer. Honda suggested most its cars to swap to this new smaller filter...they say to bump oil pressure...maybe its a gimmick to get em to last less miles. Anyway the only older Honda suggested to use the old "bigger" filter is the S2000 (all years). So excluding the NSX there are two sized filters, both interchangable, and lots of Toyotas, Nissans, and tons of Domestics too take the same threading and seal position, so if you wonder why a nissan murano and honda civic take the same filter, they just do.

All Honda's may use conventional green fluid coolant. You can use the expensive blue stuff at the dealer, but they are all ethalene glycol based. They're gonna give you some info about electrolysis but its not a big problem with our Hondas. Half anti-freeze + half water = the coolant your car takes. Honda's current new coolant they sell at the dealer can be used in ANY Honda without problems.

ALL Hondas use DOT3 brake fluid. DOT4 is a higher temp fluid and will fit in ALL Hondas, as will DOT 5.1 (but not DOT5, this is only used for certain trucks)
ALL Hondas use DOT3 / DOT4 /DOT 5.1 brake fluid in our hydraulic clutch lines too. There is nothing special about 'clutch fluid.'

ALL Hondas use the same power steering fluid. It is reccomended to use Honda-specific power steering fluid (even generic at parts stores will say Honda/acura fluid) and is replaced on an as-is basis when it gets real dirty. There's not a set age or mileage for us.

ALL Hondas use HONDA automatic transmission fluid in Honda/Acuras. YES you will want to buy this at the dealer and this applies to any honda in the last 20 years.

ALL Honda manual transmissions should use HONDA manual tranny fluid. It is roughly a 10W-30 engine oil with some addatives, do NOT use gm/pennzoil synchromesh, research why yourself.

Hondabond is an RTV sealant, equivalent to RTV black or grey with a hardener mixed in (No acura-bond). This is used in places like our tranny cases where there are no gaskets but sealant is used. Its good stuff, lots of other makes of cars use it too, it is sort of pricey for what you get. Its like RTV grey sealant but cures in less than 30 minutes opposed to 6 hours.

ALL 94 and newer Hondas use R-134A for our a/c refrigerant (and synthetic oil). Remember this is to cool the cabin, "coolant" is liquid for cooling the engine, "refrigerant" is a gas used in a/c to cool the car's interior.
