Default just picked up new rex need some help

ok so i picked up a 88 crx si with a d16y8 out of a 99 civic

picked it up for 800

now i need some assistance first thing i noticed is the speedo cable is busted
and vtec doesnt work CEL is on the ecu is flashing code 16 which is fuel injectors
i cant find anything wrong with them though

next it looks like the harness is homemade its all kinds of hacked so what harness/jumper etc... do i need to use

it also has a obd0 jdm b16 ecu (that is what i was told at least) so yeah let me know whats up need to get this thing runnin right so i can get my turbo on it but this swap owns me for free

The harness is homeade...???

Sounds like it was ghetto rigged, thats probably what is causing you to get a CEL...a wiring issue. If it were me, and you had the time and money, get a whole new wiring harness and redo it all, the RIGHT wiring harness for the car

is the car currently running? and how well?

is the y8 motor running obd0 injectors and a resistor box or are the y8 injectors still in it?

Absolutely. You can never trust somebody else's hack-job. That code 16 is coming from crappy wiring.

I agree with rleonekc and wiZCo you need to go over that harness and make sure it is correct. It sounds like you will have to fix someone else mistakes before you start doing what you want. No big deal just sucks sometimes.

i bleieve it has y8 injectors

it runs fine lol other than no vtec runs like a top has a slight valve tap and the injectors tick

but other than that it runs great

it has been run open header so im gonna have to do a valve job anyway

and what harness and jumper combo do i need being its an obd2 motor?? and what other hsit am i gonna have to make sure matches the harness

basically where the expletive do i start

i hate wiring probles even with car audio i get frustrated

Downgrade the motor to OBD1 and convert your car to the same. Looks like you're going to have a hell of a lot of work on your hands. Search for "OBD1 conversion" in the FAQ, it'll be pretty much the same process.

Home made definitely sounds "ghetto". More than that, sounds like it has the potential to be a bit unreliable.
