Default Got an ITR problem b/c I'm retarded...

...So I have recently put in a Skunk 2 Pro Series intake manifold. Start it up the first time after install and she idles fine (runs perfect), except my air/fuel gauge is maxing out. So, I think it is the computer and it has since balanced out and is fine. The other problem which is huge is: I am losing coolant big time. I had to drain it to begin with and once I was done I replaced it as needed. I soon come to find out that I have coolant blowing out my exhaust! I installed it correctly, but it seems to be dumb, unless it is me who is dumb . I suck bad and don't feel like ever installing parts on my R again....

Any help is appreciated!

Cliffs: -new manifold
-a/f gauge goes crazy, but has since become fine
-coolant lose, coming out exhaust
-I'm clueless and retarded...

sounds like you have a few things to learn and shouldnt have attempted this yourself without more knowledge.

so you are saying you have unburnt coolant coming from your exhaust? are you sure its not water vapor/condensation? does that Skunk2 manifold have ports for coolant? are you sure you arent leaking coolant at the manifold, Idle air control valve, or throttle body???

as far as the a/f gauge, are you using a wideband O2 sensor or the stock sensor? if its the stock sensor, your gauge is going to be a useless lightshow. most of the time it will probably read full lean, full rich, or bounce all over the place.

The manifold has a coolant port just like the stock intake manifold. I have no leaks anywhere on the car, but I still have coolant going somewhere. And it smells like coolant burning for some reason. As for what comes out the exhaust, it is semi-clear (some black from exhaust and it smells like natural exhaust fumes. I have never had water vapor or liquids coming from my exhaust ever before now. I don't understand why its doing it. I know, I'm an idiot...Thanks for the help. If possible, keep it coming!

most exhausts will emit some sort of water vapor or condensation especially shortly after startup. Coolant coming out of your exhaust would most likely be in the form of smoke and be very thick and white. you may want to take off the header and see if you have any signs of coolant in the header or on the exhaust side of the head. could be possible headgasket problem. if you are smelling coolant somewhere, you either have a leak or it is just left over drips from when you put the new manifold on.

If the coolant isn't drained/refilled properly wouldn't the level appear to go down when in reality it wasn't filled back to the top? Does that make sense about where the coolant could be going? I would think it would be unlikely to be going out of the exhaust...

I hear you! I have filled it once (in the radiator and in the reservoir), but I think it may still be draining through all the piping and all to make the level drop. I will fill it up completely again and if it goes away down again, then I have a major problem...

make sure you use the correct procedure to filling the cooling system. simply filling the radiator to the top isnt going to cut it.

you probably hooked up the coolant line to vacuum inlet on your IM.

check your oil and make sure it's not mixing with the coolant

How would I know whether I hooked it up to the vaccum line or not?

and where does the hose out of the front of the throttle body (towards the block) go too in the manifold? and where does the ~3/4" coolant hose go in the intake manifold? I know I have hooked it up correct, but just asking?

errRR...you sure about this or just speculating? IMO if the coolant line was hooked up to a vacuum line on the intake manifold, the engine wouldnt even run. Hydrolock anyone? Most likely what happened was the cooling system still had air pockets in it. Heres what you do:

1. top off the radiator
2. let it idle until it gets to operating temp.
3. let cool off.
4. corrected fluid level again.
