There's not a "Better" just for a 5thGen.

From Dyno Tests by our very own Evil.98vtec, conclusions were that a CAI would yeild better results..

A SRI pulls air from inside the engine bay, which is heated by the engine, while a CAI is behind the bottom of the Front Bumper, so it pulls cooler air from outside the car.

Fast reply?? You're in Cali, which it's still 1:00 A.M. there and much later in other parts.. Don't expect a fast reply at this time at night.

What the heck?? What did I do? I didn't say anything offensive, and nothing for you to be offended by.

Get all technical?? This is Honda-Tech, this is a Technical Forum. What kind of answer are you looking for??

"yeeea yo get dat cold air intake it makes ur car hecka lot fastr bro, trust me i got 1 4 my car it rockz and has c00l air whirl soundz"

I don't freakin' know what your problem is.. You come on here at 1 A.M. and ask a question and don't like the answer I give you and complain about my post and tell me to get off?? lol, That's funny. I did nothing but answer your question, you make no sense.. Not to mention I could have just said Search, as this has been covered a multitude of times, you're not the first to have this question.

to unappreciative newbs.

And what the heck does white have to do anything? That's just uncalled for..

Check the archives, plenty of data on both systems. I recommend CAI, but depends somewhat on your particular long term setup. This site provides a wealth of info, but show some respect and you will receive likewise.

Re: what is the difference between CAI and short ram? (98hondalude)

One is shorter and stays in side the engine bay.
Other is longer and goes outside of engine bay an uses colder air.

Search this has been covered over and over and over and over and over again.
Why type a question when you can find the answer much faster using the search feature.

haha...i believe me and you have about the same outlook on some things..lol

i personally like SRI better but CAI does yeild better results, but you also have that slight chance of hydro-locking the engine but if you are smart ans dont drive through lakes the cai is great. but personally i use a SRI with a bpi flowstack/6" k&n filter..

OH YEAH MAY I ADD... come on people!!! FAST REPLIES ONLY!!! OP NEED FAST REPLY fo' his pimped out ride holmes... NEWB FTW haha

I suggest short ram air. For my own personal reason I have the fear of hydrolock, for the extra 4-5 hp(rated by manufatuer) I dont think its worth the risk. Even though they have those things(noob) to protect from hydrolock, I still dont trust it.

I think you should route your exhaust to your intake for added performance.

I have a CAI on my prelude and didnt even have my front fender liners on and (don't question the next part) also have driven through car washes with undercar sprayers, and through intense rain storms without any problems.

Now last summer, we had a flash flood, and all went well until I actually submerged the front end in about 1'6" of water did it finally hydrolock.

K&N filter btw. So don't be too worried if you have front fender liners installed and you're not driving through a lake.

Were you here 2 years ago when the Tempe/Mesa streets flooded? It was in the winter season. I was in the Prelude and I had to pull over and wait it out, since the water splashing from trucks or vans made waves that rolled over my hood and windshield. I felt the filter on my Short ram and it was damp! This global warming is making the weather here crazy. Once a really good shower starts poring, you're better off in a boat.

WHAT?!?! No.. I wasn't.. LOL
I've only been here a year.. But that's crazy.. I know some streets in Tucson flood from run-offs and stuff.. And can imagine Phoenix the same way, but freakin' OVER YOUR HOOD AN WINDSHIELD?!?! That is INSANE!

A couple years ago when I was still in Mississippi, we got a crazy storm that came through and flood neighborhoods.. Most rain I had ever seen.. It was crazy.. My Step Dad and I were out driving in it, in my mom's Yukon, and the water was at the doors at least.. We thought we might be a boat soon..

It's hardly rained while I've been out here.. I almost forgot about rain until I drove down to Tucson during the summer and while I was there they had a small shower.. lol

I guess I just won't drive when it come a pouring here. That or make a Transformable CAI --» SRI, that's the way to do it. :D

Whoops, off topic..
