rattle under dash in my ek.

Default rattle under dash in my ek.

so when i turn on the ac/vent in this ek i just bought a rattle occurs under the dash, under the glove box to be precise. anyone know what this part is called. never had problems with ac before. some people have said that i am going to have to remove the dash to fix it. any input appreciated.

Umm.. Something might just be lose? It is not hard to remove your dash. A few 10mm bolts here and there, and your good to go. (not to mention the steering wheel and the wire connectors)

You have got to be the first person i have even heard say the dash isnt a bitch to remove. Some of the bolts are very difficult to get to.

actually no it's not. the hardest part is probably dropping the steering column. there are only 6 bolts that hold the dash in.

as for your noise. sometimes leaves get caught inside there and just need to be cleaned out. you do have to remove the dash to do so. if you are skeptical about how hard or long it will take to remove, then just save it for the weekend.

Really? I have pulled mine out numerous times. In my EG and EK.

Just looked at the Helms Manual and it doesnt look to bad. After seeing how easy it is i am going to swap dashes this weekend. Kinda wierd how so many people have trouble with the dash tho????

so im just tryin to fix my ac....... ive swapped dashes before the hardest part is dealing wiht vins i get it.

so i took apart the ac under the dash and the rattle is comming from the blower. it only does it while installed when i remove it the blower spins like a champ withotu a kink. and it doesnt look like anything is inside there. mysterious noise chasing.

If it is the part under the glovebox, you should just be able to remove the glovebox and the support that the glovebox mounts to in order to gain access to that part.

Any play in the fan motor shaft? You might be blowing things higher up in the ventalation system around too.
