I was getting into my car because I dont have ac at the moment and I rolled my window down and WTF! it came off track and spend 3 hours tryingto fix the problem and get it rolled up properly again. The thing is the lil handle ball looking like thing inside that connects to a plastic thing where it is supposed to hold to keep the window steady to roll up straight Well that broke into two parts if anyone knows what I am talking about does anyone know how to fix it or should I just take it to the dealership to get raped by a 500 dollar bill charge.

so recap it came off track and the steady window arm to keep the window to roll up steady is a lil bent and broke the plastic part where the arm goes into to keep the window to roll up steady.
I dont know what to do?

I had this prob with my old EJ. I got really good at putting it back on the track, 20 min total. I just never rolled my window down the whole way, I could never figure out why it would jump off.
Go to a junkyard and get the replacement part... fix the problem yourself, There isn't a lot going on inside the door. Pretty straight forward.

the manual window regulatro is like 75 from the dealer. I have seen them as low as 35 or 40 on places like ebay. I would just pony up the money and get an oem unit.

Dear god man Its not that hard to do. If you think its over your head get the part yourself and pay a small service station a few bucks to instal it. The dealer ship has some of the highest labor rates around. better then half the price is going to be labor.

I would recommend doing it yourself. The setup is pretty simple i just changed out my regulator and track on my 00 ej8, took total of ~1hr and it was first time i have tried anything like it. All you need are some pliers, screwdrivers, a few measly sockets, and a putty knife to pop off your door panel

ya man c'mon. its almost as easy as changing a tyre. once u take the door panel off ur half way there. then it a few bolts u take out, then glass and re assemble its very simple.

It's interesting that the title ask s if anyone else on Honda-Tech has ever experienced this.

The window problem is a very common issue on '96-'00 Civics. It usually has to do with the tracks, regulator (scissors), trim along the window, and/or possibly can effect the window motor.

Getting the glass back on track is the easy part. Fixing it so it doesn't happen again is the challenge.

Its not hard at all, once you get the door panel off and peel off the plastic, youll see. just take your time.

You have to replace all the broken parts. Unfortunately the average Honda enthusiast might not be able to tell visually that a part is bent and therefore they won't replace it. So if you replace the tracks, but not the regulator, and the regulator is messed up, those brand new tracks are going to be toast soon.

well I dont just get it I have been driving around with the door panel off do I have to take out the window or what? and what bolts do I take out I really wish I had a shop manual right about now. I mean do I have to take the whole scissor thing out to replace it. I know the part is like 70 bucks and then the rest is labor. I just cant figure it out. I need to call helminc.com and get a shop manual.

Dude, it's easy. The tools that you'll need are

1x phillips screwdriver
1x 10mm socket wrench
2x *****

http://repo.jackmoves.com/v/er...m206/

This link shows you how to convert to power, but you're not doing that. Just follow these instructions on removal/disassembly, and installation is the reverse.

Good luck, man up

product # 106490 008 1 REGULATOR, L. FR. DR NO COLOR 74.23 51.96 From Majestic honda.com
I mean should I try to do it myself I have a eg doesnt look like anything like a ek its a lil harder but so after seeing a ek regulator I guess its the whole window crank and all. is that all I do take the 2 10mm window bolts out than take the window out and then take the other 10mm bolts out to get the regulator out? kinda hard to explain.
