Green - Thermoswitch (fan switch)

Red - Vtec solenoid

Thermoswitch isnt too bad from the dealer, about $20 or so. The Vtec solenoid you may want to find in the marketplace, junkyard, or Ebay.

Hey thanks for the ID, 95ProjectEJ1!. Question though, the Vtec Solenoid is fine, it was when I tried to put it back in that I broke the hole/threaded area. What is that metal cover/piece called? Thanks again....

That metal piece is the lower half of the VTEC solenoid. It's probably easier to find the VTEC solenoid as a unit rather than looking for only the lower half

The bottom portion right? I believe its the spool valve assembly. Your solenoid is plugged in right, or was that the part that broke off?

The whole thing is called the spool valve assembly. I don't know exactly what the lower part is called. It's expensive new, though 9 15810-P30-005 VALVE ASSY., SPOOL 1 1996 INTEGRA 243.90

Thanks for the fast replies, guys.

Stupid me - what I was trying to do was replace the thermoswitch/fan switch. Instead, I was working without too much light, and ended up removing the sensor/solenoid/?? piece that was screwed into the hole that I circled in red. When I realized what I had done, I tried screwing it back in, and that's when the hole part split and broke off....

Dang, so what should I ask for when I go to the dealer? The spool valve assembly? Thanks again all....

Dont go to the dealer, go to ebay right now and type in VTEC SOLENOID. Im pretty sure you can find a good one for 75 or so. New from a dealer you will spend 200+, I looked it up for your year. Try the marketplace also. If the sensor broke off its safe to say you have a CEL and your car is in safe mode?

Don't get it at the dealer. It's way too expensive. Try ebay or the marketplace. look for vtec solenoid. example --> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem

Man, fast help from you guys. I didn't dare start up the car. So you're saying it's okay to drive, and that I'll just get a CEL?

It should give you a CEL if you start her up since the absence of the sensor. Vtec will not engage, Im just not certain if that piece broken off has any connection with the oil passing through

When I removed the sensor, I saw that the threads had some motor oil. That was really the indication that I had removed the wrong thing (instead of the fan switch that I was SUPPOSE to replace).

I was concern that if I started her up, oil would start spewing or leaking from the hole (or broken hole) from the absence of that sensor.

Thanks, 95ProjectEJ1. So you're not sure if there would be any leakage problem?

If you saw oil on the threads, I would think that once you start her up and get into the rpms that oil will squirt out. Hopefully someone who has a concrete answer on this part will chime in or possibly someone with past experience. Glad we all could help

Yeah. That thing measures the oil pressure by pushing on the sensor. Take the sensor out and the oil will push right out of the hole.

Thanks for being fast and helpful, guys. Much appreciated it.

So when I grab this replacement part, it should just be bolt, plug and play?

I'm going to drain the oil first (need an oil change anyway), but would I have to get any gaskets or seal?
