Default k20a2 trany

I'm have a built b18c type r in my 2000 civic which I use for regional racing in Canada. I'm considering a k20a2 engine and transmission. I'm wondering if it comes with a LSD and if so, is it the same as the DC5 type r????

I will install a 5.062fd for sure but keep the oem gears.

Thanks

K20A2 does not come with a LSD ... only the JDM K20A (Type R) motor comes with LSD ... there are other differences between the motors ...

Does it really matter about the differences? Built k20a2 vs built JDM k20a thered practically be no difference.

If you have a built Type R then you should just stick with it. It's going to cost you more money if you switch to the K series.

K20A
217hp 158tq
4.7 final drive LSD
11.5 compression
Bigger Cams
PRC manifold

I have a buyer at 8,500 for my complete setup and would have 10K for a k20a2. What makes me want to make the move is the midrange power difference and the wider powerband!!!

K20 definitely has an advantage especially on the track over the B18.

But you will need to install an aftermarket LSD.

I'm debating buying a Kaaz 1.5way like I have in my b18c or simply buying a new k20a (jdm type r) trany from Honda....I can get them for 2500 new!

Who makes a good baffled oil pan for the K

What are your plans for this car/engine? Just asking since I am curious why you are looking for baffled oil pans. I have a dedicated track car and have never run into an oil starvation issue using the stock oil pan. I could see a baffled oil pan being necessary on an oval track since oil will get pushed to one side for extended periods, but you won't really run into this issue with most road courses and you'll def not run into this on the street.

If you plan on building a true race car and that is its sole purpose... then sure I would invest in one, but I don't see it necessary on a street car (even with occassional auto-x/HPDE days).

It's a race car for the CCTC (Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship)

- Rbc manifold, hondata gasket and a 64mm inlet TB (largest permited)
- K20a2 engine with SK2 stage 1 cams, baffled oil pan, oil cooler, ATI single harmonic pulley. AEM EMS (get the ems for a good price)
-Type R trany or 5.062 OEM fd with type s trany with a kaaz dif.
- custom header (local guy) and cat back.
- As for radiator is still have to figure it out...I have a Fluidyne Type R in my EK now with samco hoses but they are sold with my setup + don't fit.

it doesn't seem like moroso makes one for the K yet.

psegs...will upgrading to the k20 move you up a class though?
My friend had to bump up a class because of his k swap in his dc2 for the Solo1 Ontario solo sprints

nice nice...i taught him everything he knows...hahaha not really
he is a good driver. I was the one that pushed him to do the k-swap instead of building up his b18c. Turned out to be a great decision.

Well, I took a few laps in the passenger seat and I noticed a big difference coming out of the corners powerwise for sure.

I know Dave and Pat from Defcon....I'm the rep for Bully Performance clutch!
