Default garrett .50 trim or .57 trim

building a turbo set up for my daily driver gsr and i was wondering witch turbo you guys think would be better for my set up. .63 exhaust housing. Not sure if the .50 trim will have better spool than the .57 trim, because that is what im leaning towards seening it is my daily. Will be using a log mani, tial 38mm wastegate, and a 2.5inch DP.

depends if you want room to grow or not. if not the get the smaller turbo for spool. if you do get the bigger one. if you only want 300-350 just get the 50 trim.

The 50 will spool sooner than the 57

Either the 50 or 57 trim will be a good choice...you could split the difference with the GT3255b like i have. If i could do it over again, i'd error on the side of a turbo that's too small rather than too large. That's why i bought the turbo i bought

I wanted the GT32 but when I went to order it I was told they were backordered and didn't have a time when they would have them again. This was over 2 years ago though. I went with a SC34, basically the .57. I reach full boost (8 to 9psi) between 3500 and 4000. Setup is 3 inch dp, cl dump, high flow cat, and full 3 inch exhaust.

I can't speak for two years ago, but i know that STC has GT32s on hand almost all the time now....you have a good turbo w/ that SC34 though.

What was the price of the SC34? The GT32? And who were you buying it through?

I think I got the 34 for 650 or 680 brand new. I think the GT32 was a little more expensive, but not outrageously so. I bought it from wiredspeedlab, yeah...that's how long ago it was. I actually got it too!!! I'm very happy with the 34, but if anything were to happen, I probably would switch to the 32.

im not looking for big power at all because im trying to be reliable seeing i have high miles. Looking for under 300whp. But i plan on just using a chipped and socketed ecu with a basemap for my set up for now.

The reliability is really in the tune, even on the low end of the boost spectrum. Have the basemap rechecked once it's on the car to double check the afr's once it is running for safety sake.

Yeah, all I wanted was around 300 and reliable. The tune is key. I don't have any experience with the .50, but from what I've read about it, I don't think you can make a wrong choice between the .50 or the .57.

i was running a 50trim(.63 A/R) on my car and i loved it, the spool was great and it made 360/255 on an 81.5mm b16 @ 17psi.

I can add a graph of the SC34 (.57) with .63 A/R if you'd like. It was on a mustang dyno, but you can still compare the curves...

Greg is standup, you wont be disappointed.

50 trim>57 trim in every way, and it makes more power (flows more air). heres my setup, stock GSR with a 50 trim @ 10psi

It's a noticeable difference in spool time. The 50 will come in quite a bit earlier than the 57.
