Engine Confusion
I have a 2000 Civic Si B16 block. I was wondering if any v-tec dual cam head will fit on it. Im in a class and i need to buy a head for it to get some experience working on heads and i want it to be a honda, so I need to know what heads are applicable for it, thanks.
Also is the 2000 Si B16a Identical to the 95 Del sol B16a? if not then what are the differences? Thanks guys, any info is useful.

yes, all DOHC VTEC heads can bolt up to any b-series block. and yes the 2000 si B16A2 is identical to the 96-97 del sol B16A2.
but if are going to start teching yourself, (unless you have money like that) i don't recommend starting with this type motor or head. my reasoning behind it is the parts are some what expensive and harder to find than d-series motors.
start out building a d-series motor, get the confidence and experience you need and them go with a b-series head.

I'm gonna go take the head off my S2000 and put it on my friend's B16A and vice versa. You better be right. I also plan on taking off my friend's K20Z head for the same purposes. I'll try the same thing with a prelude.
lol. sorry i had to.
OP: all DOHC VTEC heads that are from a B series will fit your B16A. Except maybe the B20 out of the 2nd or 3rd gen (i forget) preludes. Other B series heads (non VTEC) will bolt up, but there's the oil line problem.
The B16A head is the same head casting as the ITR/CTR. This is a very nice head. If you like nice head (who doesn't), then there's really no need to stray from this head. It bolts on to your B16A...keeps stock compression and combustion chamber volumes, and you can keep your stock manifold or get an ITR manifold.
The GSR head will bump up compression slightly provided all else stays the same. But you'll need an intake manifold for a GSR or a modified B16/B18C5 manifold to fit. It will also bolt on.

just stay away from swapping s2000/k20 heads on to b-series blocks.

thanks guys that helps a lot. I wish I had the b16 head from that block, but i dont and everyone wants too much for a b16 head is why im asking, and i just need something similar, im not really looking for upgrades, just trying to go through the rebuild process. I have a full b16a2 in my del sol, so im just looking for a similar setup so i will be able to work on the good b16 in my del sol. But thanks for the info guys...
