Default Newb to D series motors, need help bad...

well I just purchased a used D series hatch, it is a 96 CX and it has a D16Z6. VTEC is not woking, and I was wondering if you could give me some insight. I pulled the codes on the motor, and it gave me 3 of them, one was the IAT sensor, which I fixed, and the two others were the IACV and both O2 sensors. I was wondering if any of these codes could stop VTEC from working, I heard that codes tends to put this motor in "limp" mode. Also, odly enough, it has a P2P ECU, and I am wondering if I should use a conversion harness and throw a P28 back in there to make it work properly

thanks

1.) conversion harness and proper ECU is a good idea.

2.) oxygen sensor codes can and usually do put the car into limp mode. In limp mode, VTEC does not work.

3.) did the previous owner wire VTEC properly? That's not a stock motor, after all - i.e. it didn't come in the car from the factory.

the harness is a complete mess... but looks straight. The VTEC solenoid is hooked up, and I tested it, it works. So should I get new O2s??

Inspect them first and replace as necessary. One of the guys here on the site has great deals on OEM brand oxygen sensors for our cars. I can't remember his name for the life of me, damnit!
