Default high compression h22 turbo

well im a N/A guy but i want to go turbo with the extra money i have saved up but i have some questions before and i have spent all day with the SEARCH button...

my mods are
h22
11:5:1 forged pistons
sleeved block bored .40 over
polished crank
full skunk 2 valve train (dual springs)
titanium retainer clips
skunk 2 stage 2 cams( going to put stock jdm cams in when go turbo)
skunk 2 cam gears
AEM fuel rail
hondata s300
also i have a VENOM IM laying around in the garage

I know its all about tuning with the high compression so i am looking for the best tuner in my area for the job, hopefully ill stay on 93 octane but ill go higher if i have too (Going to driven quite often on the streetright now it is my daily).

550 injectors (or bigger. any suggestions?)
75mm TB
3 layer head gasket

Now about which turbo or turbo kit i should get is what help i need from you guys i am completly lost from then on.... maybe it would help for you to know my goals

Use aftermarket head bolts. The GT30 works well with H22s (or anything of similar capacity, non ball bearing is much cheaper) You should see the power that you want @ around 9-11 psi or so. The GT30 spools up quickly on the H22 and is great for street driving. It is capable of making 450-500 whp, although that would definitely be on race gas or E85 in your case. Since you're going to buy injectors anyway, try the 700-1000 units, as they will give you more headroom for power increases later and will still idle well.

everyone has been telling me to search but they dont relise i have been and im just not familiar with turbo's yet and which ones spool fast and why they do etc....

so i was just looking for some advice and from here i will research the GT30 and why it would be best for my application

I know its been a month or two. I have wiseco same compression pistons with 880cc injectors. Tuned on 110 octane to prevent detonation. 430whp 330 torque. 60trim garret t3/t4.

Getting a GT30r for your goals would be a total waste of money. People recommend that turbo for the wrong reasons....you would get the EXACT SAME results from using a 57 trim on your H22. Unless you're going over 15psi, which you're not on a turbo that size, you would see NO GAINS from the GT30r. Save yourself some money and get an appropriately sized turbo...

10:1 would be the most i would go for street use on pump gas,now track
is another whole ball game.with high compression it will help
the turbo spool a little quicker and give you a little bottom end.
but i think you will lose some on top because you won't be able
to use as much boost as you would with a lower compression.

I'll see if I can't kill a bad internet rumor here. Higher compression WILL UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE INCREASE SPOOL! That is not to say it isn't good for what your going for.

Turbo spool relies a whole lot on remaining fuel energy, just the air whooshing through the turbo is not spinning it to 130+ rpms, it's also the energy from the fuel that's still burning on it's way into the exhuast stream. Higher compression motors use more of the fuel energy in the power stroke, than lower compression engines. So, higher compression actually robs turbos of the excess energy they need to spool.

Now, the possitive. It helps in two ways. 1. a higher compression motor will make more torque off boost, so you don't miss boost as much. 2. Higher compression motors make more power with less boost. Instead of say needing 20psi to make 300whp on a 9:1 motor, you'll only need 14psi, so the turbo doesn't have to spool as high.

So, there are definatly advantages to high-comp boosted motors, but only to a certain extent.

yeah high compression turbo setups seem to have better throttle response as well. this debate has been going on so long. Either way its all the same, either high compression and lower amounts of boost or low compression supplimented with high amounts ofboost. Cylinder pressure is cylinder pressure. High compression has alot smaller threshold for detonation so getting a little to aggressive with tuning can be more detramental compared to a low compression setup.

(in response to stunnerone23) i dissagree to a point, higher compression will help spool a turbo and give greater response from the turbo, depending on how much idk. on higher compresion you have more cocentrated amount of air trapped in a cylinder at a higher psi, when on the exhaust stroke, it will exit out into that exhaust at a higher rate of speed increasing the speed of the exhaust wheel. think of it like this take a shop air hose and put 40psi in it then release it, then put 80psi in the same hose. you will get a faster release of the air from the 80psi even though both use same diameter hose and source of air flow. just my opinion on the Q.

I think what he's saying is that with the higher compression you have less margin to fine to because of detonation and what not...

you obiviously have no DAM IDEA as to what the hell you are talking about.
it is a FACT that if you raise compression the turbo will spool a little quicker.
because like you say FUEL ENERGY ...i'll have to use that one.the higher
compression will RELEASE OR CREATE, GIVE BIRTH TO ever how you want to say it creates more pressure in the dam cylinder.therefore creating more exhaust energy and therefore SPOOLING THE DAM TURBO A LITTLE
QUICKER.

BY all means I have high comp. and 15psi on my setup. Would not change my motor one bit. Would recommend high comp. with a little boost to everyone!!!

On my original reply I recommended a GT30 type turbo. It costs more but ball bearing turbos tend to spool faster. I also thought that like many people, you would find yourself wanting more power later. Better to pay a little more early than to buy two turbos.
10:1, GT30, 465 whp @ 18 psi. Everyday setting is 10 psi and 322 whp.
