Default SOHC TURBO ISSUE....

Hey Guys,

I have had my car down for about a month now and I am finally done with the turbo on the car. The thing that Im confused about is that im not seeing any boost on the gauge at all. Looking at it I see the VAC back and forth but nothing. Also the car is chipped with a 2 step. The car needs to be tuned. Im not driving it until i figure out whats going on. My tune appointment is this Sat at 1. The car is also bogging up and down like from 600 to 1000rpm?

Setup:

d16z6 stock with arp head studs
hondata intake manifold
oem water pump and timing belt
cam seal, distrib seal
garret t3 .42 .48
tial 38 mm wastegate with .7 spring
turbo xs manual boost controller
aem wideband
precision intercooler
hks blow off valve
act 6 puck sprung and lite weight flywheel
new rear main
sls log manifold
b&m fuel pressure modifier set at 39 psi for now and gauge
i dont know what to do...

A lot of motors won't show boost without a load I thought.

I've had 2 other high hp turbo cars and without a load I've never seen more than a twitch over vacuum when just revving.

yeah.. also your "bogging" issues could be due to the lack of a tune.. the sensors are reading abnormal signals and sending that to the ecu and the ecu is trying to compensate for that, but when it gets to a point it just bounces cause it cant do anymore to comp for the diffrent signals

That rpm jumping up and down sounds like what my car does until it's at operating temp. Let it sit until at operating temps and see if that "jumping" clears up. If it does, take it out for a spin but don't get on it!

the reason YOUR car does that is (mostlikly) because you have air in your cooling system

the reason his is doing it could be because of the cooling system as well and (more then likely) the tune

usually that problem comes from your map sensor.. if it has a rough idle. my hatch did it for a while. so when i cranked it. i disconnected the sensor and plugged it back up. then it was fine.. still to this day don't know why but it always quit?

tune buddy.. its callin your name dont worry about the car till its tuned cause that will rule out alot of things "wrong" with it now after its tuned and its still causing problems THEN look for other problems

You could build boost off a 2step, but what your doing isnt a real 2step, its a rev limiter. And with your fuel pressure that low your just damaging the motor. Get it tuned, read up on 2steping and preloading and then youll get what you want.

what turbo are you using, you would probably show boost at 4k on a 2 step with a t3, but not on a t3\t4...

Drive and run the car as least as possible, I'd even have it towed to get tuned unless your engine management has an auto tune.

Isn't that what anti-lag is for. Build boost while the car is in the staging beams.
