My 570whp H23a1 Set-up by AV Engineering
I would like to thank Anthony at AV Engineering for making my dream set-up come true! The power and torque on this car is INSANE. Anthony was going to rev the car a little higher since the motor was still making power past 7500rpms but as this is a daily driven set-up I wanted the redline set at 7400 for daily driving. When at the track I will rev a little higher but for right now I would like to enjoy the car before taking it to the track. In the future I plan on running slicks and shooting for low 11's/high 10's.
Anthony also designed his first set of Prelude Traction bars for my set-up and they allow full range of suspension travel unlike the other kits out there and perform great with zero binding issues. Below are a few pictures of the traction bars but Anthony does not want me to show everything as he's waiting for his patent to finalize before the release. These bars made it easy for Anthony to fit a custom 3.5" downpipe. There's enough room with these bars that a 5" downpipe could fit with no problems. In the video you will see the engine flex a little bit because we did not have the front mount hooked up at the time of the dyno. Anthony had to make a few changes to the front mounting bracket.
The car made 439whp/345tq at 16psi on the first day of base tuning. A few days later we brought the car back to fine tune some things and due to outside conditions the power dropped a little bit. Anyways, it ended up making 570whp/429ftlbs of torque with only 25psi. This was in 98 degree temperatures with 52% humidity. This is a H23a1 NON-VTEC motor by the way. I don't want to list everything done to my car but below is a quick overview of the parts used:

That's more like it. I seriously thought this was a bunk thread in the beginning. The traction bar shall be interesting...

Gotta watch the Video!
LOL@the Engine trying to Fly out of the car!! That's crazy..
Nice Build! Only thing I'd be curious about is the CR?
Oh, and what's the "I look like a Front Upper Strut Tower Bar, but without the Bar" Pieces all about?? lol

Kind of makes me want to keep my Prelude... but I wonder how much money was spent to build this beast? Ditch the power steering too! No VTAK!

I doubt Kevin is going to want to say how much he spent, lol. It wasn't cheap. There was a ton of custom fabrication done on the car and nothing 'used' was used on this set-up. The DSS stage 5.9 axles by the way are $1600 with ABS rings, lol.
On a nice cool day this car would have made all of 600whp. If you look at the first dyno chart there was a 20whp difference due to conditions. I'm sure another psi of boost would have hit the marker but we were running low on injector and I didn't want to run lean just to brag that the car made 600whp.
A set of Innovative mounts were ordered for this set-up but unfortunately got here extremely late and the car was up and running and we had little to no time to tear it back apart to install them. The front motor mount will keep the motor a lot more stable. On the 400whp pulls the motor does not move anywhere near the amount it did on the 500whp pull.
The one thing I absolutely love about this car is the way it handles and how it maintains every day drive-ability. It is a very very clean car and everything was installed to where it looks like it came from the factory that way. The only thing that we couldn't keep was the AC unfortunately.
Steve, hurry up and get your build together so I can break the 600 marker on a H23a. Just make sure you are running 1600cc's!
p.s. Pirate, the boat put down 3898hp! lol

Really Anthony, good work though.

Finally nice to see someone build an h23 and make over 500whp like i did in 2000. I think if i didn't break a rocker arm at 22psi back then, i would probably still have the setup.
Am i mistaken that I see the setup with an open decked block setup...the sleeves sure look that way (even though the block surrounding the sleeves looks like a normal closed deck h23)?
Nice work...and stiffen those mounts.
