Default need help starting 98 prelude with 95 motor

My friend blew his motor, so he bought a 95 motor. He used the 98 wiring and distributer. He also has the obd2 to obd1 conversion running a 95 ecu. We checked everything to fuses, relays, to ground wires and still no luck. The motor cranks hard but wont start. Any suggestions?

You used the 5Gen engine wiring harness, so did you swap the oil pumps over so the new engine would use the 5Gen TDC and CKP (IIRC) sensors? They're located on the oil pump on the 5Gen and in the distributor on the 4Gen.

after cranking for so long it should throw a code. find out what the code is. but most problems i would say resort to something with the distributor. if you can find out if its getting fuel or not, that would be helpful also. along with spark.

there is no ckf on a prelude.
you need the oil pump and sensors off the old engine to put on the new one.

you need to rewire the crank position sensor, because you using and obd1 ECU. there a write up somewhere on here how to rewire the crank position sensor to the distributor. either do that or change over the crank position sensor on the 5th gen over to the obd1 motor.
