I just recently changed the rack and pinion out, but my car is still making a noise when the wheels turn, its not as loud as it was before, but it makes a slit noise. how can you tell if your power steering pump is going out...thats the only thing i think it can be...since the rack and pinion i just replaced so it no longer leaks anymore...thanks for the help

 

A worn pump would make a squealy type noise constantly...since its belt driven.
What does your noise sound like?

 

my power steering pump hisses pretty loud,

been that way since i bought it, and i've been waiting for it to die, but nothing yet (2 years)

its not a squealy type noise..its more of a urr urr noise when you turn...i dont know how to explain it....its not squalling tho.

 

did you check your fluid?

 

hmmm..... mine used to tic for a while...nothing bad ever happened though

oh **** it takes fliud....yea i filled it up when i changed the rack and pinion out..the steering is fine in the car..its not really that loud it just makes a little noise thats all....the steering is fine.
