Future alarm write up...
I'm in the process of gathering parts for my new setup and decided I'm going to document the install and explain everything. There's gonna be pics, links, prices, etc.
Now before people freak out and cry because I'm showing EVERYTHING, let me explain the alarm first.
The alarm is a Python 990. It has a 1 mile range on the keypad. If the alarm is triggered it sends a signal to the keypad. If I am in a one mile range, it lets me know. If someone breaks a window, opens a door, the "signal" is sent to my keypad. Disabling the alarm will NOT stop my keypad from going off.
There is a back up battery, DEI 520T, so, if the battery is cut, the alarm still functions properly. This will allow the alarm to run for several hours after the factory battery is cut.
There is a tilt sensor, DEI 507M. This is going to be set to 3 degrees. If the vehicle moves more than 3 degrees, it triggers the alarm. So if the car is jacked up for stealing my wheels or for towing, the alarm goes off.
I will be using 2 additional relays. One will disable the fuel pump and one will disable the ECU. If the alarm is triggered, the relays will cut power to the starter wire, power wire to the fuel pump and power to the ecu.
There will be no siren. I will be using 2 more relays for this. Instead of a siren, I will use the factory horn and high beams on the headlights. No siren wire to cut.
So, to sum it up, if a door is opened or the hood is popped:
- The factory horn honks
- Parking lights flash
- High beams flash
- Power to the starter is cut
- Power to the ecu is cut
- Power to the fuel pump is cut
- A signal is sent to my keypad in a 1 mile range
This vehicle is stored inside everynight and is in plain view at work. So, I'm not super concerned about it going anywhere, and once this is done, I'm pretty sure it won't be.
Once all the parts get here (I had to order some) I'll be posting pics. The install will take a day or 2 to do, depending on my level of lazy. If you have any questions, please feel free to pm me and ask. If there is anything specific you'd like to see done or in general, let me know now so I can plan for it.
Please don't start fighting or post negative comments. This is to help educate others and help fellow users. I know theifs watch this board and others that this is posted on, but, once this is done, I'm not going to be concerned about them.
I'll post updates as the parts arrive.
Thanks in advance...
