Default Replacement auto tranny-which torque converter?

My 96 LX needs an auto tranny, if I get one from a Prelude, Odessey, or earlier Accord, which converter do I need? The one with the tranny or one for my 96? Or does it matter?
If I need one for the tranny, which starter, or does that matter?

Why do you need to replace the transmission? Just want to be sure that's what you need 1st.

I tried to get the car NYS inspected, check engine came on and gave me code P0740 (TCC malfunction). I've tested evrything I can (sensors etc), swapped lock up solenoids, drained and refilled three times with Honda ATF. I can't get it to lock up (I think) and now my tranny is making a rumbling noise when going over 25 MPH. I think it's just the torque converter but with all of the problems I've recently read about and Hondas TSB's, I think I'll just get both and do them at the same time.

If it's the one with info about freezing the vehicle speed from memory then doing service related to that failure speed and swapping computers to an improved one, or draining and refilling, or replacing the tranny, I have it.

But always interested- m735is@yahoo.com

Thanks.
