Auto Tranny remove & replace, any suprises?
I've never replaced an AT before and while it doesn't seem very difficult, I do have a question:
How should I go about filling the fluid? Do I pour some into the torque converter, or do I bolt the whole thing on, start it, add and check from there?
Also, anything that I should know that you wish you knew before you replaced yours?
Oh, it's a 96 EX.
Thanks... hopefully my busted *** tranny woes will be solved.

you should add some tranny fluid to the torque converter before spinning it onto the tranny (make sure it goes in as deep as possible).
when everything is in, you'll need to put about 2.5-3 quarts of tranny fluids in before starting it. after starting the engine, drive the car in reverse and "drive" and make sure it shifts through all the gears. This is easiest done with the car on floor jacks. check the fluids after shifting through all the gears.
auto tranny r&r is the same as a manual, only difference is to BE SURE to take off the flywheel bolts before dropping the tranny. It'll make life a bit simpler.
