So im getting ready to buy an s2k shell from a salvage yard. oh poo and im in the wrong forum! lol jk, on a serious note now-
I found 2 type R shells online, 1 that i can pick up and the other has to be shipped but they're completely raped and needs basically a full rebuild of everything. they probably aren't going to exceed 500$ cuz theyre both raped to hell. I figured I could keep the shell on the side while i restore an s2k to be my DD. I have 4k right now and the cost analysis on the s2k comes out to around 7-8k, and im selling my lude hopefully for 6k.. leaving me 2-3k to spend on the R right now and slowly put money away to spend on her or maybe even sell the s2k for a profit to feed the R and build another s2k.
(AP1 should cost me 7-8k total, AP2 theft recov. i found probably 9-10k total)
^--- lowest AP1 in my area is 12k even salvage. and AP2 at 16k salvaged from wreck.
anyways heres pics- (warning, excruciatingly painful pics of what used to be an R)
R1 :::::::::::::::::::

R2::::::::::::::::::::

So for R1 it appears that its an R w/ a non-R front bumper, my math is as follows:
cluster- 200
ITR front/rear bumper- 500
steeringwheel w/ hub- 100
jdm hype R full changeover- 4k
USDM ITR front/back seats - 400
maybe a new 5lug swap since it looks like the R was sitting as is since the wheels were stolen- 800
radiator-100
full paintjob from hookup for the cost of materials - 800?
decals- 40$
6940 + shell cost with 1k as a nest egg probably for anything else.
R2::
5lug swap- 800
ITR front end + back bumper- 800
doors- 200
ITR tails- 120
USDM GM wheels- 500
whole dash+cluster+interior panels+seats- 1000-1200
complete changeover-4k
radiator- 100$
paint- 800
8120 + shell
and once again 1k for nest egg
does anyone see a serious flaw in my math ? R1(white)'s shell will probably sell for more which is why im considering both. I was thinking this over cuz I love hondas, and want the best RWD imo (s2k) along with the best FWD (ITR) and since I found this salvage yard thats local.. figured I can afford to rebuild these cars and give them another chance in the world.
my startup fund totals 10k roughly, and the s2k's im considering totals 8k maximum. (motors untouched and i've hooked everything else up before for the prelude so no labor to mechs) leaving me 2k for the ITR shell + panels/interior. of course itll be a long project so more money as i go along.
So what are you guys' opinion on it? is it worth my time/money to try to rebuild one? or should i just wait and save until I can afford a clean R?
thanks for reading guys, if i get the shell ill def be doing a rebuild thread.

Well, all stripped ITRs are worth restoring
but I'd go with the CW of the two, easily. It's far less stripped, still has doors, hatch, fenders, dash, and a bunch of interior trim pieces.....plus well, its a CW
GL! Keep heR safe, as soon as you start building heR up she'll be a theft magnet again.

Just be sure you know what you are getting yourself in to. I just finished rebuilding one that I got out of Orlando FL. It was not very hard just very time consuming. If your wiring is messed up, I wish you the best.
Looks like a cool project!
However, you're math might be a bit on the light side. There are so many things that you are not considering if you want to do this right.
Motor
1) Timing belt, valve adjustment
2) Dist, cap, rotor, plugs, wires (preventative)
3) Oil, coolant, clutch fluid, tranny fluid, brake fluid.
4) Add the cost for new rad hoses to your $100 for rad. They're usually dried out and cracked.
5) Air intake (most jdm motors don't come with an air box)
6) Do yourself a favor and at the LEAST, replace your clutch disk. You have no idea the amount of times I've heard of people doing swaps and having to drop the tranny a week later. IMO this is mandatory. Hope that nothing else is wrong with the tranny when you crack it.
7) Allocate at least $100 or so for broken sensors and cut wires. This is another common one. You might even run into a new harness depending how bad yours is (unless your swap comes with one).
Suspension + Wheels
1) If you can find a complete 5-Lug swap in good condition for $800, you are extremely lucky. Tack on another $200-$400 on there for an average price.
2) Stock rims in decent condition usually go for $350-$400ish.
3) Tires
Interior:
1) Front and rear OEM ITR seats ... $400 for front and rear will get you a set of trashed ones. $800 will get you a set of very good ones. Average used price for fronts in great cond = $600 Average rear = $250-300.
2) Radio with code+ speakers
3) All interior dash pieces, vents, climate control, armrest with badge, clock, glove compartment, shift ****.
4) Floormats
5) New carpet because that one will be trashed, and most likely mold-ridden because of rain and general moisture.
Body
1) "A" badges
2) All ITR bars - front upper strut, rear lower, trunk brace
3) Wing
Those are just some items off the top of my head. I could probably think of more.
These restoration projects can get very pricey .... if you can be in the financial situation to multiply your "nest egg" by say, 4, you'll actually finish and be happy.
Just my $0.02

I didn't see a/c on either list.. that's a nice expensive system to replace..
unless you can find a cheap wrecked donor car, take that "short list" from above and basically double it.. that's what your final cost will end up roughly..

Please take note on the items others are pointing out. I have slowly begun a rebuild, but my ambitions are not for cost/profit but rather the joy of restoring the car....(which means I hunt for cheap parts, but I'm going to break the bank with choice parts regardless.)
I wish the best with your decision.

dude thats going to take MONTHS of time and thousands of dollars you don't seem to have to even make it a worthy track *****. If you are really serious about this, I would sell everything you have and focus all your time and money on the R.

Those shells if they are at a salvage auction will bring top dollar. I watch them all the time and see them in that state sell for 1500-3500 literally.

I would also add bushings to this list...which can get very expensive as well. Goodluck
