If you do or don't why or why not, the reason i ask is because i found 8 foot lengths pre bent with 5-6 bends for less then 40 bucks a pipe

It's a pretty common material type - standard issue OE on a lot of new vehicles. In terms of after market, it's widely used in the Large Truck / Diesel performance industry (4" and 5" sizing), far less in this market. It's commonly offered in muffler shops (2" to 3" sizing) as it can be readily cold worked and crush bent (where as 304 just buckles and collapses). It doesn't weld as nicely as 304 in terms of color as it's slightly ferric. It seems to hold up to heat and pressure as well as 304 though.

by ferric, do you mean that there are ferrite grains present? why does ferrite make it not pretty? does having ferrite grains mean that the material will rust?

I looked it up, and I dont think "ferric" means magnetic.

"ferric" means that the iron has an oxidization number of +3

however, ferritic (composed of the ferrite phase) stainless steels ARE magnetic, as well as martensitic stainless steels...I guess thats what he was trying to say.

Perhaps he meant to say ferromagnetic.
