Stupid Rain...Carbon Fiber Advice
Ok ive been seaching and have found many different ways but i wanna know if any are even worth it...
What Happened is it recently rained and the rain sat on the hood for like 2 hours in the sun...Seems as if the rain drops and puddles magnified the suns rays and oxidized my Carbon Fiber Seibon Hood like super quick
Its everywhere and i don't know what i should do...
Ive herd to use Nu Finish on it and i don't think the 3m stuff will be strong enough since it says light oxidation...I can also just get if sanded and re-cleared for $60...whats my best option here...really would rather not have to get it re cleared tho...
PIX: Is this Salvageable??

That looks like about sixty-eight shades of awful.
Unfortunately, unless it was acid rain I don't think here is any way that that happened just because of the water sitting on your hood. That whole thing about water droplets magnifying the suns rays and pitting your clearcoat is just marketing bullshit.
What it looks like is either simply oxidation (bad) or CC failure (worse). If it is simply oxidation you should be able to correct it by using a buffer, DA or Rotary, and a light to medium polish.
However if it is clearcoat failure, you are most likely going to have to have it stripped and re-cleared.
Edit: I just took another look at your pictures, are you sure those aren't simply hard-water spots? Did water pool onto your hood, from the run off of a roof drain or something? Usually if water gets onto your car and is allowed to bake in the sun it will dry leaving lots of water spots, but if it rained then shines real quick I could see some standing water leaving those types of marks. Try washing it first, that just might solve your problem right there
Either way after it is fixed make sure that you wax your car and maintain the integrity of your paint. Carbon fiber pieces are just as susceptible to the harsh elements as are any other painted parts of your car.

You could try wetsanding it with 2000-grit wet/dry sandpaper then use a rubbing compound to buff it out afterward. I think I used a 3M cutting compound. It made it look better for a while but the clear coat problems came back on mine even worse than before. Must have just been a cheap clear. I was under the impression that Seibon made really high quality products though...
Many carbon fiber mfr's advertise UV protectant coating. However, if you want it to last have it cleared with at least 2 coats of quality clear. Parts like a hood allow the clear to flow out pretty flat, so a quick de-nib is all the buffing it should need.
