accord 94 start up problems?

Default accord 94 start up problems?

this happened completely out of nowhere. i came home from work, was about to leave again, and when i went to go start my car it started fine....except that it turns back off when the key moves back into place. anyone have ANY idea what it is?

it sounds like your ignition i would check for lose connections hoping that it doesnt need a new switch

You have a bad ignition harness. Order the electrical side of the ignition switch and replace it. It's pretty easy to DIY and not too expensive.

had this issue in a friends civic. there are i think 3 points of contact in ur ignition. when u turn the key to start the center contact hits the contact for the starter. when u release... it falls back to the contact that tells it to stay on. this contact is worn out. u can still move your car around in the driveway if neccessary by starting it and holding the key in the start position. just not advisable to keep the starter running for a long period of time.
