Default Can anyone help me please?????????

I have a 1993 Del Sol, my engine blew a few months ago and I'm looking to put a replacement engine but my stock motor was sooo slow, I wanna upgrade but this stuff is confusing I am not too car saavy.

So I guess my question is: What do you guys recomend if I have a $1000-1500 dollar budget, what would be the wisest choice???

Thank you in advance

what was the last engine? Was it the S model with the the d15 engine? Probably. How fast do you want. A d16z6 sounds like what you need, or a jdm d15b vtec engine. That would give you a good pickup. You could also search for a used b16 engine.

Try searching, there is a link at the top of this forum that has a great intro to swaps. Check it out https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/878010

I would like it as fast as possible for the price range, under 1500, after that when I save some more I may wanna turbo, but I want the engine first.

the d16z6 is a great base engine to build on. it cheap, reliable and a good motor to turbo. since you can usually find one for $300-600, you could boost it a lot sooner also. you can use the tranny you have now but imo i like the z6 tranny better. plus after adding some power the d-series trans usually doesnt last long unless for some reason its in really good shape and has been well maintained. but most people dont bother to change the trans fluid in a manual. so finding a good one is impossible. i ended up blowing 3 of them then i bought a brand new one.
