Default It is necessary to have ground on valve cover?

I have the DOHC vtec cover and the piece where cam gears are hidden is cut off
do i really need a ground there? The car starts but in all pics of honda DOHC there is that wire on cover to body. What do H-T members think? And another ground on the tranny to body is it necessary for the ground to be there on shift linkage bracket? again car starts but it is safe? I read the wire tuck forums and they hidden somewhere but where?

lets see..... you're so great at giving advice, let me see what i can do for you:

you dont need a valve cover at all on the motor, that's just a myth. fire it up and go on some redline runs.

or....

look at this VC. there are plenty of areas to ground it to the body, even if the cam gear section is cut off.

HA HA Ha ha haaa, I am not great giving advice. My alldata is where all the answer is. I just reword so i do not get arrested. And i tried that once on the crappy a6 and guess what oil spill on the newton parkway. Someone should really clean that. Some spit and elbow grease it will rub off and be shiny. But serious streetwerkz do i need to use the grounds. You have 21725 posts you must be a MASTER ASE Technician. Thanks man what do you think?

Streetwerkz, that didn't seem like advice to me, but whatever, maybe there was another thread with both of you that I didn't read.

Anyway, to answer your question on the valve cover, It's not absolutely needed. You'll have better spark, blah blah blah. You should run it.

The tranny-to-body one is pretty important. Stuff like motor mounts don't ground, so there has to be a good electrical connection between them. You can relocate it and make it better hidden, however. You could even bolt it to the back of the block near the alternator. Of course, this would make it harder to disconnect when pulling the engine.

To bagpipe goatee, better spark blah blah blah. I got this used MSD Kit and works great. As for the car it starts like a champ on steriods. Idles at 3000 rpm at cold and calmy falls to 750 rpm in 4 seconds. The tranny to body is not even there wire tuck it but removed because it not necessary on the honda forum. No pics so i removed it. Starts strong.

This is for streetwerkz is that your valve cover. If so cool man.

then why ask the question? know-it-all. somebody gave you the proper advice that you were looking for and you come back acting like you have the best setup on the planet and nasa contacted you into working for them. i'll agree that we need to launch you into space, but we dont need your brain power.

then stay on that website and stop cluttering up this website with your incorrect wording. or, if you wish to stay.... learn to remember the correct wording when typing it out here. you have pissed off a lot of people, it isnt just me.

^^^ and that's better advice than anything you have typed here yet.

BTW, no that isnt my valve cover. i was just showing a clean photograph of different ground locations on the VC.

it isnt plagiarism if you state where you learned the information from. so, copy/paste and add the link.

oh, and if alldatapro is such a good website, why do you need to ask the question here? wouldnt that website have the correct info you are looking for?

They do not have a full blown diagram of all the grounds. They only show labor and part price.

How about you don't use alldata and actually learn how to work on cars and stop acting like you know everything. Alldata can be incorrect and misleading, we have it at work and I don't use it.

And ask yourself this question, Honda didn't put that ground on there for no reason right, they could have saved material costs by leaving it out, instead they put it on there. Ask yourself this, why do people UPGRADE that POS stock ground? As yourself this, do you even know what a ground is? If you answer all these questions yourself then you've got an answer.

Ive read many of your posts, and just STFU and learn instead of trying to teach **** you've never touched or experienced and just so happened to read something about it. DIAF.

This is why I rarely come on honda-tech anymore. Plus all these honda fan boys with an ebay special fart can and making posts how do you do a k-swap. Makes me sick.

well, to go back to some previous statements....

you have the "allmighty MSD", why would you need to ground it anyway?

The ground from the body to the tranny is very, very important. If not at that point at least ground the motor somewhere else. The valve cover ground i am not so sure how vital that one is but I still put a ground wire from the head to the body. I have a GSR motor in my CRX. Weird things start to happen when you do not have adequate ground points on your engine. My last ordeal was my temp gauge would start peaking to hot although my engine was not running hot at all. It was an intermitent (spell) problem but it would keep doing it. One day my speedo needle started smoking until it literally melted off. Took it for an electrical diagnostics and the source of all these problems was that ground from my tranny had fallen off. The engine was finding every possible grounding point on the car. So, one was the ground from the temp gauge switch and the other was from the cable on the tranny that connects to the speedometer. These two points were getting so hot from the electrical current running through them that it caused the temp gauge to spike and my speedometer to melt. Now I have 8 guage wires grounding my engine to body including the tranny, head and one more on the front of the block. Never had any problems since.

#1 - you are a new member
#2 - incorrect information is NOT helping
#3 - i have a feeling you are working towards a ban
#4 - abram_quito = guilty by assosication.

#5, 6, and 7 - Investigation into if you and abram_quito are in fact, the same person.

EDIT: abram_quito's ban date and your join date are the same day. coincidence?
