i have a 98 lude and recently i changed timingbelt, water pump, and tesioner..
at first i didnt noticed but it makes whistle sound(kind of new car sound) everytime when i stepped on gas. hate dis sound!
i asked few shops and friends and they all said one of those three things i changed could be too tight. should i just drive it off until it stops or pay 300 to losen up a little. worth it? does it going to affect sound of exhaust if i dont losen it up?
i havent put an exhaust yet by the way.

Your balancer shaft belt or your Accesory Belts are too tight. Happened to me once when I was a noob and had a mechanic change my timing belt, they loosed it at no charge the following day. This will not affect your exhaust tone.

 

thx are shops usually charge 300 just to losen up ?
i know u hab to remove the engine mount , but still 300 is alot .
some people sayin its a rip off.

 

no, you don't need to remove the engine mount to loosen the belt. you only need to remove the mount to get a new timing belt on, which you are not doing. try loosening/tightening up your accessory belts (alternator belt and power steering belt). i have never heard the noise from a belt that was too tight, so your belt is probably loose and needs to be tightened. if that doesn't cure the noise then you need to fiddle with your balance shaft belt tensioner.

 

If you had a shop do the work then take it back and have them loosen it up. If you did it yourself then I'm sure you can handle loosening it a bit. $300 is way too much for the little amount of work involved.

 

Its gotta be an accessory belt or your balancer shaft belt, the timing belt gets auto tension unless your running a manual conversion.
