you'll make more power with an lsvtec because of it's displacement advantage. a b16 would probably be more reliable, but either can be reliable.

your comparing power outputs of a fully built b16 and a basically stock ls/vtec?

my vote goes to ls/vtec...not that the b16 is a bad motor but it will be cheaper to ls/vtec it.

lsvtec = 0-200whp
b16 = 0-200whp

you'd make more torque with an lsvtec that's for damn sure

it all depends on what you are going to do with them...and since you have an EM1 you already have a VTEC head so all you have to do is find an LS bottom end and follow the appropriate steps to put the vtec head on the block. You can find an LS block for dirt cheap if you know where to look, i got my complete shortblock for $50

can't you stroke the b16 to get the same displacement as the ls?

When it comes to modifying the LS/VTEC there may be more little pains in the *** when trying to apply a part (meant for a whole original motor) to a "Frankenstein", depending on the part. Plus, with a B16, a stroker kit and some used OEM parts will get it's horsepower and torque up significantly and is far easier than building a Frank motor.

I wouldn't spend any money trying to stroke the B16 vs.going ls/vtec. I'd go the cheaper route ls/v FTW
