I got an ek civic. Replaced my radiator, cap, and temp sensor. Fan is still working, but now here's the problem. When driving on freeway, temp is ok, but once hit traffic, the gauge goes up and down, but does not shoot up high enough to overheat. Now, I had the shop check it and said it was all good since all most parts were changed. Can anybody give me an idea why the gauge is still going up and down after most necessary parts were changed? I even had the shop check for air bubbles, and it was all good. Need help, so let me know. Thanks.

your fan is currently working, you have a new radiator, cap, and temp sensor.
hmm...have you changed your thermostat? this should have been the first thing you changed if you were having overheating issues.

you have no leaks right?

yeah, no leaks. They even checked for air bubbles after my install. I think the thermostat was changed also. This whole thing is like a big blur right now cuz I cant find the problem.

bleed the system (again if you already did it) un hook the fans and see if it still does it.. if it just gose up and not back down redialy its probalby just the fan cooling the radiator and dropping the temp ... how fast does it rise and fall?

The mechanic sees the fan work and so do I. The gauge would go up not too much, but there are times that it's about a quarter left before it hits the overheat line ("H"). It's fu**en crazy. maybe I should try that out by removing the fan see how it goes. I figured it's almost winter time, therefore the temp should be ok, but it bothers me though.

You think a crack on the exhaust manifold will cause this issue or no? When I had my clutch done couple months ago, the mechanic has mentioned that I have a crack on my exhaust manifold, but should cause any problems except loosing power.

This should NOT be the cause for an overheating issue.

Yeah, A crack in the EM will not do that... however a crack in you HG could do that. My temp did the same thing. If I were moving it was fine, but when it came time to sit in traffic the fan couldnt cool the motor alone

so a crack on the HG would do it? it's funny how this sh*t started after I replace my radiator. But worst comes to worst, I'll just get it all completely done at the shop cuz this whole thing is bull...
