I dont want to give up, cant shake codes 4, 8, and 16 after swap
Well I don't want to give up on this but I really need to get my car running good so I can drive it to school/work.
So heres the deal, I did an MPFI swap for the DOHC ZC I just put in. and I managed to get my wiring right so that it was drivable. I ran pretty good and fast but it started backfiring a little. I had code 16 17 and 8. I was driving home from work and I heard a LOUD back fire and the car wouldn't start. The next day it started right up.now I had code 4. ??
Also it had a little bit of a fluctuating idle. It would run if i switched the vacuum lines behind the manifold it would idle a little high at like 1200 RPM's. if I put them how they were supposed to go, when i start it It would idle REALLLY low and after a rev it would sound like its gonna stall.
I cant shake code 16 either i checked all my connections for continuity and they were good. I dont know what to do anymore
I am a 17 year old kid with no help from anybody I dont know what to do.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think your distributor has something to do with the CKP and TDC sensors. So if both sensors themselves are working (read ohms) then you may want to swap out your distributor and check that. As for the 16 code, have you changed both your main relay and/or resistor box? I was throwing the same code and I changed my main relay and my resistor box and bam, fixed my problem. That could be the reason for the backfire...
But makes sense having a faulty distributor, which can also be your backfiring problem (gas in the chamber not getting ignited, and then more gas dropped in, then the spark comes from the distributor).

I think you should start by checking the timing belt again, to make sure the cams and crank are set right.
What ECU are you using and what distributor? Did you re-wire the distributor correctly?
