Default Seatbelts not retracting

My seatbelts dont like to retract back after I pull them out to use them. I have to help them back into the holder.

Is there anyway to fix this? Maybe greasing the innards of it up? Are they hard to get to?

Take it to the dealer. That should be covered under the lifetime seatbelt warranty

How about the belt itself raveling(sp?) do you think that would be covered? And is that any honda dealership?

man im so mad at honda. i went there and theyre telling me that there is a 120 diagnostics fee. i was like 120 for seatbelts? they said that if there is any physical damage, itll be 120 for diagnostic fee and if there isnt, itll be covered under the warranty. so tomorow im guna check it outfor any physical damage and take some pics and then take it in again so i dont lose 120

I just don't know how anyone could physically damage an item that is protected on all sides, w/o leaving some exterior evidence.

So...as the fourth owner(technicaly 3rd) I can take my '96 to any Honda dealer to have the spring replaced that retracts the seatbelt? Any paperwork needed?

just called the local dealership, they said that they ARE covered under a lifetime warranty, and that there are absolutely no fees associated with getting them done, as long as it is a mechanical failure, which he said he is aware of the problem with them not retracting.

He said it would take a day for the parts to come in and that they would be able to have them in as soon as they came in. I think that this means I get all new seatbelts.

mine aren't, but you can ask them Im sure.

I think that only the mechanical part is wearing out, which it shouldn't be.

so are they trying to charge you for looking at them? did they fix anything? or have they even looked yet? <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by prelude_93vtec &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">ya well i havent gone back to honda yet because i dont wanna pay 120 for seatbelt "diagnostics"</TD></TR></TABLE>

ya i had an appointment with them and they said if it was physical damage i'd have to pay 120 bucks and i didnt wanna take the risk so i didnt do it. i took apart the side panels and saw no physical damage so i might take it in again.
