Default ZC vtec timing help!

I have a ZC Vtec on my CRX, but I need to put the timing on it. Does anyone have any picture of how everything is suppose to look when it's on time? I need to know how the pistons, valves, and pulleys are suppose to look... Or a diagram.

the number 1 piston will be as high as it will go and the cam gear will have hash marks that will be level with the block

I only changed the engine and I have all CRX stock parts... it was just the block that I changed. The car was working fine at 1st, but then the RPM went low and the car turn off I check everything and the screw that the cam gear had was loose so I tighten it. The car turn on, for a while, but it turn off again. Oh and I was wondering of what happened if the cam shaft stayed still and the cam gear pulley spin. What would happened to the engine?

Your valves would stay open and your pistons would smash them to pieces.

There are many different ZC's. Including the SOHC VTEC ZC.

Thanks for the link Max Kling. Do you know or does anyone else know what chassis these engines came standard in? Id assume either integra or civic, but i'd like to know which models.

Ok this happened to me the cam gear was spinning, but the cam shaft didn't. I already took of the head, but my valve weren't smashed to pieces... They just got bended.

I got lucky? So does that mean it would be better if I just fix the head then to buy a new one?

You could replace the bent valves. Im just saying that there could have been alot more damage done by what happened to you. Ive seen valves come out of exhausts

your an idiot, i have one sitting outside, SOHC Vtec 1.6L. Believe that.

as for the OP, your cam has a tooth in it so as long as the cam gear was completly on the cam they would spin together without being torqued down.

make sure you didnt set the timing belt off (check the marks on the crank pully first, make sure its TDC) then check the markes on the timing cover with the marks on your cam gear.

then make sure your dizzy is almost dead vertical on the head (btw, are you running OBD1 or 0?)

it should start, and if it does hit it with the timing gun and adjust to 16degrees.

still wont fire up? do a compression test to see if you mashed up the valves
