Fresh DOHC ZC swap, no throttle response
just got my dohc zc swap running tonight, and i've got no throttle response...the engine idled great, has good oil pressure and sounded like it was running real good for my first actual rebuild...i know the cam timing is right...i was **** about making sure the cams were just perfect since everyone says its a bitch to get right...but i read in a write up that for the dohc the static timing is 16 deg. btdc, so i set it there and the engine didnt bind up so i thought it to be correct...i mean its running at least, but i think if the crank goes back to tdc that'll fix my problem...what do you guys think???
The crank pulley should be set to the tdc(single notch) when installing the timing belt with the cams set correctly. The 16 degree(middle of the 3 notchs) is when u set the ignition timing with the dizzy.
Code 4 is the crank position sensor. Check your dizzy wiring and make sure it is right. As for the idle you could try cleaning out your iacv
replaced the dizzy with a known good one and bam! bye bye code four...finally my car runs right again...idles perfectly at 750rpm, 50psi oil pressure cold @idle, 12psi warm @idle, a/f/r 14.5:1....really need to get a pg7....but all things considered today has been a good day

so far i couldnt be happier with the way the engine runs, its smooth as can be and i made no adjustments to the idle....although i really need to richen her up a little bit at idle, i wont know what it does under a load until today sometime, as i still have ball joints, tie rod ends and brakes to do today...but in a few hours i'll see how she pulls....i also have to fix my passenger window, the guy i bought the car from told me it was broken, but i had no idea it was held up by a sliver of wood and a bolt...idk how he managed that one, but he did!! and since its starting to get cold in michigan, im'a need that window, ahahaha
